What's new

ITS TRUE !

But correct me if I'm wrong your crews and maint are not etops qualified. and it would take you awhile, so maybe they would put them on the west runs until we are one cert. we are having problems getting the old dinosaurs out west up and running.
I'm no mx expert, but I would guess that the East is ETOPS qual'd on the A330 and 767 -- or how else would thay already be flying to Europe? The new '57s are going on the East cert. And, from what I've heard, the theory is that we're going to try to get approved for the East 757 ETOPS as a piggy-back on the 767 approval, or something like that.
And yes, those ATA 757s are ETOPS ready.

The three 757's will be used for North Atlantic only. No mixing with domestic. They have navigation that is a little different from our own 757's. Only North Atlantic crews will be trained on this.

Yes as Atlantic say's thes 757's will be used for Europe only, not domestic and def not Hawaii for the meantime anyway.. Lets hope this is just the start of the worldwide expansion..

Perhaps taking a page from the Wolf playbook, "World Class Global Carrier"

While this is good news for US expansion, why didn't Tempe buy 757-300's instead of the -200's? The 300's can carry 30% more passengers and have additional fuel tanks to make long haul flights over the pond. It seems like every time they try to do something right, they only go half way. Must be corporate ADHD.

They are as rare as hen's teeth and continental would probably start a bidding war if there were some available.

Doesn't ATA have a few 757-300's they'd like to sell? Southwest bought into ATA to get their routes and to prevent other carriers from expanding in ATA markets. Southwest is slowly dismantling ATA, and eventually, all of their aircraft will be sold to other carriers. Why not negotiate to buy their 757-300's now? By the FAA's count, there are 20 -300's that are potentially available for sale from US operators:

Aircraft Series Count
Operator Name AMERICAN TRANS AIR INC
Make/Model B-757's

Make/Model/Series Count FAR
B-757-23N 6 121
B-757-33N 4 121

Oh, and I almost forgot about that midsize carrier based in Eagan, MN who is currently in BK and probably looking to divest of some of their aircraft to clean up their balance sheet prior to exiting BK in 2008:

Operator Name NORTHWEST AIRLINES INC
Make/Model B-757's

Make/Model/Series Count FAR
B-757-251 56 121
B-757-351 16 121

The -200s do have about 500 miles greater range than the -300s.

NW has different engines and TZ is going to keep what 753's do not get sold to CO. With the L10's leaving they are going to use 753's for military

Are any of Continental's 757-300s ETOPS ready? Do they currently use them on any transatlantic runs? I know they use the 752s on some European services, but I don't think they use the 753. I'm assuming that TZ's 753s are ETOPS ready, since they use them for MAC charters.

Happy as a pig in mud darlin'! I can't wait to look in the mirror cause I get better looking each day.
YOU may want to stop by Walmart and get a NEW Mirror.......obviously what You see and what the Rest of US have to see is "Seriously distorted".
