What's new

JEOPARDY

Well make the next one a Long Island Iced Tea, because my co workers here are quite upset about the current selection of trash bags and desserts. It's devastating. Simply devastating.

:mf_boff:

I know that advertising seems to be in the most peculiar places now, and when it is placed on an aircraft, on everyday items, it might appear to go over the top because one can't escape it. Long gone are the days when a logo was a tool of singular self-promotion. Logos are partnered all time for sporting events, etc. Everyone wants your hard-earned disposable income.

We'll eventually tune it out, it will be ineffective, if it ever had been. We already ignore 80% of the commercials on TV, we hardly notice that van which passes us on the roadways touting a product and we skim past the advertising in our favorite magazines, now we shall just have to learn to do it on an aircraft.

Desensitized to what they advertise.

I still don't see where all this advertising is so intrusive? The tray tables? My laptop is usually on that. The barf bags? Who is looking at those? The inflight mag? If it's that bad, bring a book. I don't think that the ads are over the top and offensive on board.

Just my .02

LCC just needs to sell itself to Ryan Air all ready and get it over with.

I still don't see where all this advertising is so intrusive?

Because it isn't setting the bar very high in defining what US Airways is/has become (as compared to what it had intended to be under Wolfe & Gangwal). I don't want to speak for other people, but I believe that is the main issue.

So little impacts my life, in the way of advertising, that this is not a huge thing for me. I'll just ignore it when I purchase my next ticket, like I choose to do so everywhere else in life.

Unlike many, I realize the environment we operate in today,

enlightened one, the fact that there are profitable carriers (read continental) who do not poison the visual integrity of their cabins with advertising is enough to discredit your ominous "environment" claim.
your recognition of such is baseless and fueled by the lies DoUgIe-and-the-gang use to distract the "many" from their inability to be innovative in running an airline.

Ok, enlightened one, if you read my posts, you will see that I agree that Doug and "the gang" are running a third rate airline, if you can say they are running it at all. I have never said once that they are not liars, and I have never said they treat their employees or customers with any sort of respect. In fact, I have said exactly the opposite.

You're being over dramatic, how shocking. Where are we "poisoning" our cabins with all this advertising? The tray tables? Spare me. It's not like the ads are plastered all over the ceilings, overheads, bathrooms, and windows, so relax. In fact, your screen name says it all, so wake up......

Bottom line, if it brings in revenue, so be it. Get it yet? Shoudn't you be losing sleep over the new trash bags and the pie?

Until the day of $600 PIT BOS and $1200 PHL LAX fares return, the ads will come, and more carriers will join in. Start to deal with it.

Well, I recently paid $1200 to fly to MIA from PHL. I paid $900 to fly to BOS from PHL. Hmmm...how about $1800 to SFO from PHL and well over a thousand to fly to LAX and PHX from PHL....and guess what, the product still sucked.

Can I assume you believe the end justifies the means?

If so, then you shouldn't have any problem giving something up to continue the success of the company.

How about your paycheck? Can I have that, please?

I want your car and your house, too. Give it to me.

I also want you to work with substandard supplies and equipment for free. Don't complain, because I know you care about my success.

You are to liquidate your accounts and pawn everything you have. Collect the money and hand it over. I want it yesterday.

I believe in the end justifying the means, too. Your means will further my end. B)

you are consistently duplicit. how sad...
by the way, i chose my screen name well before this nightmare merger was ever a consideration. sardonic, yes; prophetic, who knows?; unfortunate, undoubtedly!

HUH? So you are saying that mgmt should not be looking at alternative forms of revenue generation. We should not adapt with the times, we should not consider any methods of income other than tickets. That's it. Gotcha.

Newsflash, PAWOB, I (we) have given up ALLLLLLOT to this company to ensure its continued success. I could calculate a dollar amount if you would like. Compensation, benefits, work rules, etc.... Have you been asleep since 9/11?

I feel it is managements fiduciary responsibility to CONSTANTLY look for ways to ensure our profitability. Obviously, raping the product and customer service in the way they have is clearly not the way to do it. I am not sure what you are talking about when you refer to my car and my house. My point is that the people are losing it over barfbag ads, and if it generates revenue, so be it.

I will agree (for the 50th time) that DP and his "team" have royally screwed up the product and royally screwed the pax and employees beyond any comprehension, and I find that reprehensible. Has nothing to do with our ability to capitalize on someone who wants to advertise on our barfbags or tray tables. Those 2 things have little to do with our current situation. People will say that the ads are part of the "wal mart" affect here, and I don't buy it. Ads are everywhere. The dirty planes, horrid onboard/ airport service, and general buffoonery is to blame.

Sucker.....

No one is arguing that the product does not suck.

Don't be sad; no duplicity here. I agree the merger has become a nightmare; you have yet to explain to me how incoming ad dollars have degenerated the product significantly. Product and reliability are shot, I'll agree.

I like it, but why stop at barf bags? Why not toilet paper? Talk about your CRAPtive audience.

Later,
