JEOPARDY

How about, BROUGHT TO YOU BY THE TIRELESS SACRIFICE OF OUR WORKERS on the barf bags

Adapting to the reallity? The reallity that NO other airline has to resort to this kind of advertising from so many directions? Usairways is not industry leading nor have we been in a very long time. I don't think that AA, CO, NW and the true LCC's are gonna say, "OMG how stupid of us not to advertise like US". "Just LOOK at all that money they have brought in". Stopping the advertising should not result in the company comming back to the employees for ANYTHING. I think they know that it wouldn't happen truly. It's a lack of vision and a true ability to boost revenue as other airlines have ADAPTED by their management. We are sad, cheap and the laughing stock of the industry. Why not charge MORE for your liquor, sell headsets on all video equipped flights for say $3.00 and show short subjects. How about not advertising for OTHER companies. Build a product and sell IT.

Yup, and it brings in revenue without taking it from my pocket again, so who cares? I say go for it. It's a barf bag for gods sake...
While I agree with you about bringing in revenue $ without taking it out of our pockets, one has to stand back and think "Do we really want our brand association to be on a barf bag?" Passengers use these bags when feeling absolutely horrible. As many of us can recall getting sick on a concoction of alcohol during college years, such an experience was always enough to keep us away from such libation at the least for many years; therefore, perhaps product association with a barf bag may not be a terribly good idea after all. That's my opinion, and I'm unanimous.

Why should we stop the ads? Ads are EVERYWHERE. Is it a HUUUUUGE deal when you are deluged with ads in the subway? In a taxi? At the movies? The grocery store? A newspaper? Answer: No, you don't even notice it anymore. You tune them out, intentionally or not.

I could frankly care less what CO NW and AA do with regards to ads or revenue generation. Those airlines generate TONS more revenue just given the places they fly to (NYC, LHR, NRT, etc..). US does not have that luxury, with the possible exception of PHL on a smaller scale...

You are mixing two points: you are attributing ads on the tray table and barf bags to the cheapening of the product. Unfortunately, neither of those two came at the same time. Tempe did a great job of ruining the product WAY before we had ads on some trays or barf bags. And I don't see why it is a big deal to have ads from other companies on the trays. People read them for 3 seconds, then place their laptops or food on them. Big deal.

We agree that we need to fix the product, but we disagree on the ads (everyone disagrees with me! 🙁 ) I simply don't see the big deal if this generates revenue! Bring back the linens and glassware and more yummy BOB or whatever to fix the product, and stick the barfbag behind the mag in the seat pocket, and your huge problem is solved! 😀

Well, I don't think the people that are becoming ill are the ones reading the bags. I think the people that are sandwiched into the seats for hours on end are the ones being exposed to it. Again, it is a barfbag, not the end of the world here. If it makes $$$ instead of leaving it white, then so be it. I'm all for it.
