This may be a good idea: I'd rather have all the clueless ones (gov't, media, consumer advocates, etc.) meeting to figure out ways to control the weather than have them meeting to pass legislation affecting all airlines (when all airlines didn't make the mistakes that JetBlue says it made). I believe JetBlue did make some mistakes, but it's claiming responsibility for more than is necessary. And, that's their choice. If I (as PIC) am responsibile for passenger safety (as the FARs currently read), then decisions affecting safety (can we safely go back to the gate?) must rest with me. What hasn't been addressed with this "Passenger Bill of Rights" nonsense is are we also going to change the FARs, or are we going to have conflicting laws? Without changing the FARs, I could find myself in the situation of violating one law in order to follow another.
