Job Openings

Ken,

You'll get no argument from me that scabs are disgusting, opportunistic scum-suckers taking advantage of a bad situation at the expense of others, and that they lack integrity. On that we can agree.

Therefore they have a vested interest in making management out to be a bunch of greedy evildoers, a populist message that many of their members are eager to hear and ultimately internalize
Management doesn't need the union to send that message. They're doing a pretty good job of it themselves.

March 2006 -
Maintenance delays per 100 departs - 9.4
Average delay length - 38 minutes

March 2005 -
Maintenance delays per 100 departs - 9.4
Average delay length - 37 minutes

Finman--

Where'd you get these stats from? Can the "rest of us" at NW access them, and if so, where from?

Thanks,

Kevin--

I would say that $200M in annualized labor savings were well worth it, as obviously the performance has not sufferred with the replacement workforce.
Also Mr. Statistic,
how many a/c were operational March 2004 to 2005 verses March 2005 to 2006? I'm sure there was a big decline in August/September of 2005.

Not this ignorant question again. How many times has this been hashed out on this board?

Aircraft before the strike: More than you guys could handle.

Aircraft after the strike: Yet to be seen but looking to be about right.

Before the strike, the stats were pretty good. since end of AuG 05, stats turned NWA into SCAB AIR and the biggest joke of an airline whose mechanics cant even fix it properly

The results are a delay rate (per 100 departs), so A/C count is irrelevant. I.E., 10 delays on 100 departs is the same performance as 9 delays on 90 departs. Obviously, there were fewer departures in Mar-06 vs Mar-05, and there were proportionately fewer maintenance delays in Mar-06.

The NWA internal web site (SOC). Unfortunately, access is limited.

if he didn't give the stat on a per departure basis, then you would cry foul based on the #of AC YOY.

I'm sorry, but that's a pointless question.

It has long been recognized by public men of all kinds . . . that statistics come under the head of lying, and that no lie is so false or inconclusive as that which is based on statistics. ~ Hilarie Belloc (The Silence of the Sea) ...

Well hotshot....
those stats still include AMFA worked months...
we'll wait a year and see where scab air stats stand...
oh yea...there probably won't be a scab air by then!!!! tough break... 😀
O BTW thanks for the compliment "Aircraft before the strike: More then we could handle" At least you acknowledge we were over worked and our stats were still better the previous year. 🙂
