Judge Approves Part Of Us Airways Severance Plan

Well, then Mr. Parker has his work cut out for him.

Somehow, the PI/PSA/AL merger created a Frankenstein.

I know for a fact there were clear and accessible lines of communication at PI.

After the merger, the my-way-or-the-highway attitude became very apparent at the top of the food chain.

Over the years, and with the rise of certain folks from regional directors to VEEPs, the rot spread all the way to the station level.

In my early years, I had respect and confidence for the bulk of my management, from station manager to CEO.

As the rot spread downward, I first lost confidence in the executives, then middle management, and finally, station managers and supervisors.

It is no exaggeration to say the last handful of managers I had, save one, would NEVER have passed their 6 month probationary period at PI, and would have been shown the door.

Moreover, the lack of ethics is appalling. I know of a case where even the labor relations rep admitted a CSM had lied in a grievance hearing. Guess what? The rep ruled for the CSM anyway. That is routine at U.

I am rooting for HPUS to survive - I have many friends counting on it for a job.

You saw what the merger did to PI. Do NOT let it happen at HP.

OTOH, the frontline employees are first rate. They have saved US from operationally imploding, and have kept the customers coming back in spite of management.

They are thanking their gods that someone is about to replace CCY.

My advice - don't stop there. Dig deeper.

Best of luck.

Amen. We've managed to keep the company (operationally with things within our control) flying right with management that would rather be playing golf. Imagine what we could do if someone actually gave a damn about what happened? 😛h34r:

Just wondering too if anyone at the hearing bothered to throw that little comment from the good Dr out for all to contemplate. Those in charge can return to playing golf or whatever it was he said. Maybe instead of the 50 million, the judge should have just given them 1 days green fees (splurge and give them a cart too!) and said seeya.

Is seems to be well understood that middle and senior management will be history once HP takes control. At this time, the only thing they are interested in doing is making sure their Golden Parachutes and full. Most of them could walk out the door today and the company would continue to function day in and day out with or without them. This crock of bologna that Glass is pushing to the judge about giving them all bonus to stay is just that...at big crock of BOLOGNA... We all know that to be true.

It is not a blow to the top officers, when US files the POR you will see the severence and retention bonuses in their new contracts.

Just wait and see, even Judge Mitchell said that is where they should be filed.

And what was won was that people that have flown this company into the ground and raped their employees economically should not be rewarded.

How much is your bonus?

Your right and like I have taught you before, You won't "see them on the unemployment line".

I do my job and am proud of my performance. I can not do it alone, all of my co-workers make it happen. If I get a retention bonus to stay or a severance package when I get booted out, then I had it coming. 😉

MMW, I take it that you will be one of the employees that will profit from Mitchell's decision...

Can you honestly say that you deserve this money ?

After All, Employees that will be recieving this money have contributed a whopping 1% [at the most] to the "Transformation" program, While your fellow employees have contributed [for starters] at LEAST 18 % !

Oh, But the company Has to Retain these fine people or the company will be forced to shut down....[What a Crock]...

Please enjoy your raise, which came off the backs of your fellow employees..

Insp89 -

No I do/did not benefit from this decision in any way, shape or form.

It is my personal feeling that the employees from the Director level down do deserve the same severence considerations as every union employee. I don't totally agree with the retention aspect of the proposal. The severence payout should be what retains the employee.

What I was opposed to from the get go was the cash grab of the top 25 executives. It is my feeling that Judge Mitchell made a fair decision and hopefully will uphold the denial of any bonus / benefit to this group of executives.

They all ready had severence, they just enhanced it and gave retention bonuses too, that is what the problem is and wait for the POR to come out, even Judge Mitchell said the executives can file new employment contracts in the POR, you will see the same plan put forward.
