Attrition for June was a healthy 79. No retirements were reported from the TWA furlough list during the month. Total attrition from the active ranks for May and June was 129, which exceeds the number of recallees in or just graduated from training.

Kirkpatrick, what is your current position on the recall list? As noted previously on this board, we have been told in recall training that there would be more recalls, but we were not given a specific number or time frame. I hung in for four years and it was worth it. You can too!

Just got back from a 3-day tonight to discover that they finally posted the May and June attrition figures on the Flight Service website.

Here's the breakdown.

May:
Dom 28
Intl 22
Total 50
Avg. seniority of attrition: 22 years
Of the 50, 28 were retirees.

June:
Dom 49
Intl 30
Total 79
Avg. seniority of attrition: 24 years
Of the 79, 48 were retirees!!!

Didn't have a chance to play with the retiree numbers to determine the avg. seniority there, but it has been well over 30 years most months.

They didn't post any of the retiree names for May and June; so, there's no way to determine average seniority of the retirees.

However, I think it is interesting that total attrition for Jan.-June is 305; yet the seniority reshuffle in June only dropped my number by about 300. I guess the attrition for Jul-Dec of last year doesn't count.

As Mark pointed out, with the 130 (plus or minus) that started on 7/24, we still have approx. 175 fewer active f/as than in December of last year.

If you are in the top 200 of the current furlough list, I'd make sure that you have a current passport and you need to retrieve all your AA uniforms/drycleaned etc. Also, if you are currently flying for Eagle, I'd use up all your Eagle uniform points. You cannot transfer your AE uniform points once you are recalled. Use it or lose it. Also, I learned a little too late that you _do not_ accure company seniority during recall training or during your Eagle training. Do not forget to ask for a file review with your Eagle supervisor too. I was supposed to get one but did not know, and was not told by anyone the need to do so.

Also, if you can, ask working/current Fas in the three East Coast bases for a look at their bidsheets. Some of the recalled fas are kicking themselves for not carefully thinking and about which bases to go to out of training. You will be locked in for three months and although that may not seem like a long time, you may be there until the base of your choice opens up and you are senior enough to hold it. Think about what your priorities are, what your commute is going to be like, and what you can live with. If you have _never_ lived in the East coast, you might want to get a cheap ticket and spend a weekend at either New York, Boston or DCA. Take public transportation and see what it's like if you have driven all your life and have never gotten a Metrocard.

Good luck to all and don't lose hope.

Mark is lucky as he lives in the NY area. He is also a former "trader" and is well versed in the hows and whatevers. He will be a great asset to the base. (and loss to Home Depot)

Good points about bases. BOS only has one airport and Winthrop has relatively cheap housing. In NY you can use Kew Gardens Taxi between LGA and JFK for a relatively cheap price for crew or the airport shuttle that goes between all three airports for under 20 bucks. You are hosed at off hours though.

Are you suggesting they use all the Eagle points to buy uniform pants and/or skirts, which can be used at both airlines, and luggage? Or maybe just to buy anything so you can return it for an exchange? Is it the same uniform company?

Eagle and AA both use the VF solutions company, everything is the same except the ties and the extra gold stripe on the AA uniform. Both new uniforms are now heavy wool, scratchy and a slight different shade from the ones six years ago. They are now made in Poland. What I did was
get new pants, blazers(you can order the extra gold braiding from VF solutions and hire someone to sew them on or do it yourself) and a new tote bag since mine is worn out and ripped from 4 years of dragging them up and down Eagle ramp stairs.

The word amongst the LGA fas is that the next recall will be in the fall since we are still short 200 people. The issue with Boston is it's primarily turns. No 76 transcons, no 73 flying. If that's ok with you and you live in MA/NH/PVD and you don't want to deal with 2am callouts to EWR, then Boston is perfect. DCA requires the coverage of IAD, DCA and BWI and the most junior fas on the recall list all went to DCA even though for most of these ladies, it was their _last_ choice. Most people chose LGA and I love 3 class AFS and being able to pick up high time trips. I also like flying with the LGA fas. I also know someone who somehow put Boston as her first choice even though, she claimed "New York was where I wanted to be!" and now she's upset. There is a huge difference between the letters BOS and LGA so careful which order you write them on the base preference sheet!

I'd like to send you a private message but can't figure out how. Any ideas?

Actually, I wanted to call you and ask a question or two that might be too involved for the forum. If you wish, email me at kirkpatrick@compuserve.com

With the board software upgrade, it's probably screwed up at the moment... the banner on the main page says that the upgrade should be completed later tonight.
