Last A300 flight

They were spacious, great galley set up. Only plane which never had a overhead problem on PAP, and that is saying something. They flew level which made working a little easier. They were also smelly maintenance pigs, and made customer and crew connections a constant problem.

Will miss the OT that airplane created but wont miss the airplane good riddence no more hot days in that pack bay.

"That airplane" carried 267 Passengers (the most of any AA aircraft), and could carry upwards of 40,000 lbs of cargo ($$). Along with OT for you, it generated huge amounts of revenue. Seeing the "bus" depart AA is really nothing to cheer about (unless you work for Jetblue or Spirit). Just take a look at SJU todya VS. a year ago...38 flights a day down to 18. In MIA, they are adding frequencies with 737's and 757's, but the total number of seats, cargo and baggage capacity overall will be lower with the A300 parked. The incredible shrinking of this airline continues. It's a shame.

I understand the last AA A300 flight is today on AA1908 PAP-MIA-JFK arr 1239A Tu.

I'm sorry to see them go/

Just departed off gate E-8
Left 50 standbys at the gate on its final revenue flight. Leaving late because of Miami Weather Adios 😎

Cargo lift will be missed, but I think you're wrong about the capacity drop. Crandall believed it was better to fly two 727's an hour apart vs. a single DC10, and I think he was right. Being able to operate two 737's or 757's a day in some of the island markets where only a single A300 operated is going to grab a lot more of the business traffic. And that's where the money will be made, not on the VFR traffic in the back.

Not so fast....A/C 074 was called back to active duty today for a JFK-STI-JFK leg. JFK had already began prepping the aircraft for its final flight to Roswell.....
Tomorrow, Thursday, they will try again for the graveyard.

Form a cost perspective fleet simplification is a good thing. There will certainly be a gap left by the A300, but with 787s on the way in a few years that gap will be partially filled.
