LCC baggage snafu...

Hmm makes me wonder if this would have been less of a mess had a fleet transition contract been agreed upon already. <_<

SpinDoc replies:

So what do contract negotiations have to do with employees doing their job on a daily basis? Nothing. If you're so weak as a person to let something out of your control (negotiations) control your work ethic, you need to quit and let someone else come in to do the job. There is no excuse for giving less than 100% every day when you are at work, NONE.

Being stuck on an A/C for for hours on end is not something anyone wants to endure. Airlines are not blameless. Many people think that this is an exact science. Many people take it for granted that this is something that can not be affected by weather. Who knows. Weather happens. A bill of rights would be good but I think that weather may be excempted? Would this be of help in the end?
If you were driving from PIT/Phl and were stuck would you blame Penndot for not arriving phl on time? Of course you would.
If you travel 550mph and land in good shape in the middle of a winter storm you may be taking the delays and lost baggage a little too seriously. This not to belittle the difficulties that many have faced. It is only to perhaps put things in perspective?.

Fascinating. I can't remember a time where I cursed PENNDOT because I failed to cross the state on time.

A few differences between driving and flying:

1) I only pay for fuel and tolls. No ticketing in my car.

2) I could take hundreds of different routes from PIT to PHL without filing a flight plan or consulting ATC.

3) I can leave whenever I choose. Scheduling is flexible.

The only thing I might blame PENNDOT for would be the potholes. There is an advantage flying has over driving that I honestly can't argue.

Then again you could be stuck on I-78, just like jetBlue!

See?! I knew PHL could find extra taxi space. It was just a question of timing.

Now there's something that flying and driving have in common: Snow Removal.

This past weekend I watched the ACAA try to clean the runways, taxiways and apron at PIT as best they could. It was a case of "two steps forward, one step back" only because of the intermittent snow. They did the best they could under the circumstances, and to their credit ground operations weren't adversely affected.

Given that PIT has more places to pile snow than PENNDOT has on the Interstates, if the plowing on I-78 was done in earnest, I can't blame PENNDOT for the right hook that Mother Nature used on them.

Yes, weather happens, but where is the line of demarcation between "weather" and "it's the airline's fault"? I was stuck on the tarmac at PHL for 1:40 last Friday night waiting for another plane to leave gate B11 so we could park. No other open gates were available, as they were iced over. According to jetBlue's customer bill of rights, I would be entitled to a $25 voucher...IF the delay was deemed to be in the airline's fault (weather-related issues excluded).

One could argue that this was a weather-related issue, and they'd probably be right. On the other hand, one could also argue that this was within US's control, since the plane parked at B11 was supposedly boarding when we landed (at least that's what the captain announced). Why was it stuck at the gate for another 1:35? Was there a mechanical issue? Did it take all this time to load the bags because PHL has the worst baggage system in the first world? I don't know, but if I were going to make an argument, it would be that our time spent on the tarmac was at minimum partially within US's control, and they should take ownership. I am curious how US handled all of the misconnects who had to spend the night in PHL because by the time we parked at the gate it was 9PM...and there were alot of people on our flight who were connecting to transatlantic flights.

They never blocked off the entrance ramps to I-78 till 24 hours later. Alot of lack of communication there. As for the highway, one accident leads to someother accident then people getting stuck when everything coming down was ice and freezing with NO way on melting it due to the fact of the back up. On a normal dry day, that part of the Interstate is one of the deadliest in the nation. It was just the lack of PennDOT and Local Authorities not comminicating with each other, until it was too late. But the thing here is that the weather forecasts are all over the place, its a crap shoot.

My friend just got his bag today. He flew Southwest from Austin last tuesday night. So it wasn't just LCC's bags. Everyone had their problems, just got to take it with the part of travel, I guess.

 if they paid fleet what there worth maybe the bags would make it on the right airplanes

Simply because you happen to be a FF'er on LCC, this doesn't mean your privy to whats happening behind the scenes of an airline during an irop. I agree that its totally unacceptable to be stuck on a tarmac for 8, 9 or 10 hours. I don't, however, think there was this huge conspiracy by all the airlines involved to willingly, and more importantly knowingly, create this undesirable situation. Mistakes were made Piney, and while we all know you've never had the misfortune of making one, they do happen on occasion. Thank GOD Almighty you aren't a DAL FF'er!!! If you ever tax your brain, don't charge more than a penny. 🙂

He's not a DAL FF'er. Why would he want to be I mean you guys are bankrupt and have no clear vision? When are you kids getting out of that BK hole? Few months; few years?? Seems you have bigger fish to fry than lost baggage.

Your answers are so pathetic, you surely must be a 'bot. Can we call you a "managed bot"? A tool? Perhaps a dildo making pleasure for mgt eunuchs?

Your strawman is to assume someone at work gives less than 100%. I am certain that speaking from your experience, that might be true. To assume others do that, without proof, is called projection.

BTW, while you bring up strawmen, did your co-worker ever turn you in for STDs? I hear your chronic disease is highly contagious.

Actually we'll be leaving bankruptcy at the end of April. As for no clear vision, well, we know Doogie has "blurred" vision as well, but that hasn't seemed to matter with LCC now has it? LOL!!!
