Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Standing and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance is a private decision.
There are religious reasons (Jehovah's Witnesses, for example) that some do not do this, and it has to be respected. Respected, that is, if one is REALLY a patriot and wishes to uphold the Constitution of the United States...a document conveniently swept under the carpet when someone is percieved to be less that patriotic by the masses.
 can anyone guess what lead would not stand up for pledge at union meeting????
that sounds like an expensive nickname.....sorta like our guy nicknamed "rotorbrake"Towbar??

You mean "uphold and defend the contributions"......(like politicians - "...uphold and defend the Constitution...") forget.
EXACTLY!? Why in the hell would the Pledge of Allegiance be appropriate at a Union Meeting? What next "The Our Father" a few verses of "It's A Small World" or if Parker is invited "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"? It is stupid crap like this that really dilutes the issues.....if an individual doesn't want to recite it SO WHAT! (Several years ago AFA was determined to take a formal position on "Right to Life" yet really didn't want to listen to hundreds of F/A's soon to be furloughed. Politics and religion have NO BUSINESS in these forums. Sing your patriotic songs at home around the fireplace and read your Bible verses to yourself.....Don't subject others to WHAT YOU BELIEVE....quite honestly I couldn't care less!).I haven't said the pledge of allegiance since the 8th grade. Do they actually do this at union meetings?
