All this hoopla about Cheney.....I still think with what he said on the video he knew tried and true,I think the catalyst everyone is overlooking is Rummy.I'd bet he poo pooed what Cheney was saying in '94.Just a hunch.He was stubborn as all hell to the end.....I bet he was the one more than Cheney.As to defending Cheney....i'm just saying its more complex a deal than we'll ever know....and I will admit Cheney has a 'thumb the nose' type personna.

You really think Rumsfeld (or anyone else for that matter) pulls more weight in the White House than Cheney. I guess anything is possible. Cheney strikes me as the kind of thug who sits at the back of the room. He says very little, watches and hears everything and has the connections to do anything or to have it done. He is the one that everyone knows not to screw with because he will buy you. If you are loyal (Scooter) you will be taken care of no questions asked. I do not believe anyone tells him what to do or that anyone can counterman his orders. Just my opinion.

Fine, Rumsfeld had a loose leash. That still does not negate the fact that Cheney predicted exactly what would happen if the US took Iraq. He has given 100% support for the actions and has never said word one that it should not have been done for the exact reason her predicted back in 1994. A person of conviction does not just sit idly by as 3,600 soldiers get slaughtered for a hopeless cause.
For the record, I do not see Cheney as holding his tongue on anything for anybody. I believe there was something in it for him or people he knew and that he sold out at the price of 3,600 lives and counting.

I'll give you this much.....that Rummy carrys/CARRIED a BIG Stick at "1600"....But (at no time) NEVER as BIG as Dirty "DICK"(Garfields correct)
El CHIMPO asked Cheney, to head up a commitee to find him a VP.
Low and Behold, Dirty "DICK" did, and appointed HIMSELF VP(with El CHIMPO doing the ceremonial signing of the papers)
There was a time(not so long ago) that I'd have said...Jim Baker was THE most powerful man in the GOP....BUT "DD" has even neutralized JB somewhat.

In the WANING hours(THANK GOD) of the GOP, Dirty "DICK" is still THE most powerful man in DC !!!
But here is the SCARY part.
Unlike a man like Jim Baker, or GHWB, Cheney IS a "DANGEROUS" man.
Couple THAT, with a HALF WIT like EL CHIMPO to "go through the motions", we ALL are in a potentially DANGEROUS arena.
Short of using the "BIG ONE", we ALL better hope to HEL*, that Dirty "DICK" does'nt convince EL CHIMPO to go after IRAN !!!!!

It's funny, I showed this t a few die hard republicans at work and all they do is shake their head and shrug their shoulders. They have nothing to say. Those 2 min pretty much just shoot down every argument they have to support Cheney and Co.

Shown last nite by PBS and Bill Moyers, was a documentary of the selling of the war, by Colin Powell, to the rest of the free world.
To watch a man of his integrity/stature make such a FOOL of himself was nothing short of PITIFULL.
Couple that with every news organization that gambled(and LOST) on not wanting to be wrong/on the losing side, was a very sad day for this country !
Think about all the years/months/weeks/days/minutes and seconds that have been squandered by EL CHIMPO and Dirty "DICK", with regards to Afganistan. "That" my friends borders on an act,s of Criminality !!
