Let's Talk Union Organizing

Sounds more like a Flat tax or Fair tax argument rather than a union argument. What we all need are lower taxes.
Guess it does seem a little off topic. Let me add this:

We should organize the illegals in this country so we Americans can make a livable wage. 😛h34r:

Is that better?

Actually thats worse. We should penalize companies that hire illegals so we, that are Americans, can keep our jobs.

Every time I see one of your posts, it almost always has something to do with Kool-Aid.... and I've decided to laugh at you instead of take you seriously. It's much easier that way.

I think I may start a new thread: "Let's talk union busting. You won't see union busting discussed here."

Kool-Aid is for people like yourself and the anti-union folks at Delta. Kool-Aid drinkers are people who are pro-management and anti-union. But since were an Eastern SCAB, you probably already know that.

I think you should start a new thread: "USAir757 the former Eastern SCAB, needs more Kool-Aid!" You're truly a pathetic person. 🙄

🙄 Still mad AMFA never stood a chance in the ATL hangar?

A quick question. How do you think seniority will be handled when Delta merges with a company who has union represented AMTs? Straight answer please. Do you see dove tailing or staple in your future? Do you think a union representing AMTs will allow non-union AMTs to go above them?

That's because illegal aliens are willing to do it cheaper and complain a lot less about it than you. They are the equivalent of outsourcing overseas, but they are here in our country. Why do you think there is such a large market for illegal aliens & overseas outsourcing? It's because we've gone and priced ourselves out of global markets, and now even our own market here at home is going with the lower priced labour. So you think raising the minimum wage is going to make us more competitive, decrease outsourcing and employment of illegal aliens? These people are not leaving, they're here to stay. You can complain about how it's not right, but it's not going to change anything. And yes, they will do your job for you, for less than half what you charge, and they won't even dream of organizing.

We may dislike it, but it's happening and it will continue happening so long as we remain uncompetitive in wages. I won't argue that unions have helped in some ways... but they are a huge part of the reason we find ourselves in this outsourcing/insourcing mess that we're in.

Are you an Eastern Scab USAir757?

757,
"It's because we've gone and priced ourselves out of global markets, and now even our own market here at home is going with the lower priced labour."

And I'm sure you have one those illegals . mowing your acre of grass under the table and washing your SUV . GOD forbid

a pilot should have to do such labor. You live a little above middle class so YOUR not threaten by illegals . only by senority list.

Well, it's not the first time I've been attacked personally for speaking the truth, and I'm quite sure it won't be the last. I respect that you have different viewpoints than I do, so I won't respond in kind. If you reread my post, I was only stating the situation we are in, with relatively little personal opinion. I challenge you to tell me anything I said that was Incorrect or false. In all honesty, I don't like the situation we're in at all! I completely agree that it is extremely difficult to live on minimum (or near minimum) wages. I didn't invent the rainy day, but I do have the best umbrella.

So, if you think we are uncompetitive in wages, then you are definitely a part of what’s wrong with America. You sir are a disgrace to all Americans. I don't want to live in a thirld world country nor make America one. Uncompetative wages my ###.

We compete in a global economy, whether we like it or not. If my recognizing that fact makes you think I'm what's "wrong with America" and a "disgrace to all Americans", then I truly feel bad for you. Neither one of us want America to be a third world country, but only one of us is in denial about it.

And if you don’t think the illegal’s wouldn’t organize you are wrong, they’d do it in a heart beat!
You are the reason we Americans are considered to be “stupid Americansâ€￾.

Again, a personal attack... but here you bring up an interesting point. If they could, maybe they would. But I operate under the assumption that aliens who are in the United States working illegally do so with the knowledge of three things: 1) Anything is better than where they came from, 2) they will take whatever jobs/work/money they can get, and 3) they will do anything to keep off the radar screen. Organizing, to me, would be a direct way to shine the spotlight on them.

Sounds more like a Flat tax or Fair tax argument rather than a union argument. What we all need are lower taxes.

I couldn't agree more. That's one thing the government can do to help alleviate the strain on the American worker. I'm talking about tax cuts for low and middle class families... household income under $100,000. That would allow wages as they are to go further. It's not a cure-all, but it's a start! I'll debate the flat tax argument in the Water Cooler with anyone that's interested.

A quick question. How do you think seniority will be handled when Delta merges with a company who has union represented AMTs? Straight answer please. Do you see dove tailing or staple in your future? Do you think a union representing AMTs will allow non-union AMTs to go above them?

The hopeful answer: DOH.
The straight answer: Staple.

My experience with unionized groups and how they feel about Non-Union groups leads me to believe that they will operate ruthlessly in a merger negotiation, as they do with just about everything else. But there's always hope.

Simple, date of hire should be the deciding factor. Any other way would not be fair. I also think union represented AMTs will have no option, our management has stated that our seniority WILL be protected. I imagine there would have to be a vote as to whether keep the union or dump it. To assume a union would simply move in without a vote would be ludicrous.

Straight enough for you?

DAL Mech,

There are NOT a lot of hypothetical situations(mergers)where the outcome of combining union forces, w/DL non Union forces(AMT'S) would not be known(99%) in advance.

Examples;

DL and AA ?.....................NEVER HAPPEN (DL brings NOTHING to AA's table)

DL and UA ?.....................MORE Union AMT's at UA(BUT they Might give up their name though)

DL and NW?......................"DOA/RIP" !!(though DL would have stayed non-union) !

DL and CO ?.....................MORE DL Amt's(DL would continue non-union)

DL and US? ......................Still MORE DL Amt's (again non-union)

SO, you can see that THE only potential problem DL would have, is with a UAL hook up.

Well, if it is to be a UAL merger Ill have to look for another job more than likely. I have ~8 years and that just wont get me very far. I honestly dont care if I work for a union or not, I just hate that people try to say its the only way to go.

DAL Mech,

Thanks for the answer. Unfortunately I would not believe anything coming from management's mouth. If their lips are moving they are not speaking the truth. There would be a vote but get ready for more lies. If a merger is to come to pass I see the union coming in, winning any election and then the fun would begin. I do wish you the best.
