Does anyone know if the seasonal LGA-LWB service will operate this summer? Our company has a need to commute that route, during the summer only and it's not in the schedule. Thanks.

Tempe can't be bothered with markets like LWB, which they've probably never heard of before, it being on the East side of the airline and all.

If you need it, we won't offer it.

They have service there from CLT and PIT. It's a very small market; the only other commerical air service is DL from Atlanta, which is seasonal.

IIRC, the Greenbrier used to subsidize the LGA seasonal service (and formerly it was to DCA, if not mistaken). At one point it was on an F-100, then down to a CRJ, and last year I think it was on a Dash.

The PIT and CLT service falls under EAS and is Air Midwest B1900s.

LGA-LWB was operated with the F-100 I think only one summer but the 732 operated it for several years but only a few times a week and usually with light loads, but as prev reported subsidized. Last summer it was operated by a 50 seat Dash 8-300, don't believe I remember seeing it in this summers advance schedules.

Air Midwest might pull out of LWB all together, there has been mention of a flight from another city just making a Flagstop to pick up passengers. CO Express is starting service to Cleveland so with not much need for flights not sure of the future for this small airport.

Actually, the Air Midwest operation is being completely shut down by Mesa. I'm not sure when, but I believe I read sometime in the next month or two.

Thanks your all our answers. I'm fully aware of the current PIT/CLT/ATL service, i've flown them all at some point. I wouldn't be surprised if the LGA service doesn't come back. Even though it was a very convenient flight for me, i never saw it as making sense. Most of the Greenbrier customers seem to be more "southern" so why would they be coming from or connection through LGA? During a peak weekend last year I can remember just 12 or so people on the flight, imagine what it was on a weekday. Last year was a DH8, the year before an ERJ145 (i remember flying back to LGA on that flight and just 1 person got off the inbound in LWB on a Tuesday) Even with the subsidies, loads were terrible.

This year I may just have to do LGA-ROA and then drive 2 hours. CRW is a 3 hour drive but there is no nonstop on any airline from NY to CRW so by the time i'd connect somewhere, I may as well drive the full 8 hours.

Interesting fact, when (or if) the LGA-LWB service runs it is the ONLY nonstop from anywhere in NY to ANYWHERE in West Virginia! I know WV sometimes gets a bad rap but it is really beautiful flying country down there.

My wife now is the secretary out at BLF. The rumor she heard a while ago is that there was talk of trying to get Air Midwest to do a circle trip BLF-LWB-CLT (or some variation on that) similar to the way Colgan is now running BKW-SHD(Stauton/Shenendoah Valley)-IAD for UA EX. That of course was assuming BLF can get EAS funding again and before the talk of Mesa shutting down Air Midwest. The latest and more realistic rumor is there is going to be an air taxi service (probably operated by Cape Air) based/hubbed out of CRW and running to BLF, PKB and MGW.

I've heard nothing about CO being interested in coming anywhere down to this part of the state. You do know to a lot of people, WV ends at South Charleston. 😉

Look at this stupid email i got back from my email inquiry to reservations, 6 days later!

Okay back at work and did a little research. This summer looks like CLT-LWB Beech 1900 Daily and PIT-LWB also Beech 1900 X6, ironically probably the biggest day of the week for the Greenbriar market.

From LGA connecting in PIT looks like about 3 hours 45 mins going and about 3 and a half hours returning, both ways mid-day times.

Hope that helps ?
