You're reading too much into it. I like the job, but don't like the company too much. I like the people, the corporation, at least in our department, is and always has been pretty messed up. I've thought for a long time that inflight is a pretty dysfunctional department, is laughable really...managing flight attendants as if we have just a kindergarten education. But that's something I accept and don't really think about or pay attention to anymore. It is what it is. The best thing about my job is the people. And that part I really enjoy and have fun with. Not trying to flame or incite, just trying to understand why people can be so miserable at their job
I have been in school for the past year, pre-nursing, and plan to be in nursing school by the Fall of '06. I have enjoyed flying, but it's time to move on. Unfortunately, this is a dead end job now...no pension, no incentive to stay. It's time for some new challenges and a new life. I look forward to that...in the meantime, I make the best of what I have now. As long as I focus on the people, this job is pretty good...though it's MUCH harder physically than it used to be. I'm looking forward to getting out of the city too and having a job that I can take anywhere.
It's been a good run and I have no regrets...just time to move on.
The biggest problem with this company, and I suppose all the airlines, is the denial that security is an issue (knives on airplanes, lower staffing levels). I consider it the biggest issue, now and always. I don't appreciate the lack of attention payed to it and my security by this company. We have to rely on ourselves, the company (and the government) offers no direction and in fact only denial...that's my biggest gripe.
