I don't mean in any way for this to sound cold-hearted, but the best possible outcome for Rita is having it strike the same area as Katrinia...N.O. et al is already wiped, better to hit was is already destroyed, than to cause even more loss elsewhere.

There are so many people working so hard to put that city back together for the millions of people that call it home, I have to heartily disagree with your statement. I pray that the hurricane spares N.O. as much as possible. Terrible, terrible, terrible.

We arent gonna build it on tax money, we are gonna build it on money that doesnt exist.

Read his lips - no new taxes...read them even more...no ending the promised future tax cuts. At the rate this borrow and spend administration is going, we'll soon be listing the costs for rebuilding New Orleans in yen.USAir757 said:The money exists, and it is going to end up in the hands of our government through tax hikes and program cuts. Wrong. The money will end up in the hands of Halliburton, KBR (Halliburton subsidiary) and Bechtel. Big contributors to the GOP all. See this week's Newsweek for the money trail.
And, the money is coming from China and Japan who continue to buy the promissory notes that the current administration keeps issuing to pay for Iraq, Katrina, and those tax cuts for the wealthy. WE are not going to pay for it. Your children and your grandchildren are going to pay for it.

2. I am struck by the odd fixation people have for Haliburton. I don't know anyone that works there, but I don't think they are evil people.
