Thank you for the info, as I understand it you are the highest paid and work the least, but your insurance is going up. Do you know how much he other airline FA's are paying for health insurance, I heard the UAL still doesn't pay anything for health insurance.
Once again, AA f/as are NOT the highest paid. If you convert their "trip" pay to hourly pay, WN f/as are paid more--over $50/hr top of scale. The company loves to play games with the numbers. Instead of quoting hourly pay, they quote an annual pay for x number of hours. For instance, the chart that says a TOS flight attendant flying 82 hours makes $46,258 yearly. They then divide that by what they say is the average hours flown by AA flight attendants which is considerably less than 82 hours to get a higher per hour rate.
They include in that number, "active" flight attendants who bid each month, but then drop all their trips. Those flight attendants are actually being paid $0.00. Those flight attendants must pay the full premium for their health insurance if they have AA insurance. They accrue no vacation, and (I may be wrong about this) after a period of time not flying, they accrue no pension credit. (No, do not ask me what they get out of staying on. I don't understand it, either.)
The company uses those hours not flown to reduce the average number of hours flown by an AA flight attendant, but they do not use that zero paycheck in the calculation of average earnings. As Mark Twain said, "There are lies. There are damn lies. And, then there are statistics."
