Fort Worth Star-Telegram has reported that "A source in Dallas who was briefed on the talks told the Star-Telegram on Friday that the mayors have recently been talking about shrinking DAL from 32 gates to 20 and phasing out the Wright restrictions over nine years."

According to the airside-analysis in the master plan, the max operations to be handled by the airport is 476,000 per year. 476,000 / 365 = 1304 operations per day. 1304 / 2 = 652 departures per day.

According to the Master Plan Q&A, "Pre-existing terminal space remaining from Love Field’s busiest years is believed to be capable of supporting as many as 55 gates."

Does it make sense for AA to push for a wide open LUV field or push for a reduction in gates? Also, last week there was news that a carrier was negotiating to buy the Legend terminal, what is the likelihood that it is AA?

Personally, I find all of this obsession over Love Field and Wright to be nothing but a distraction for senior management.

Instead of worrying about Southwest or the size of Love Field, AA should be concentrating on giving customers a reason to want to fly them out of DFW. That means running a decent operation, not losing bags, etc.

The Dallas City Council will vote Wednesday to study options for acquiring the former Legend Airlines terminal at Dallas Love Field – including seizing the property through eminent domain.

The proposal is in response to comments from the terminal's operators that they are negotiating to sell the building to an unnamed commercial airline, Mayor Laura Miller said.

The unnamed airline was a regional carrier(Pinnacle)but it fell through due to the Wright controversy
