Mda Letter's

So letters where sent out on friday and most of you have received the letter(s). How many of you are interested? Do we even know what is going on now? Have anyone talked to a current MDA flight attendant? Do they enjoy the job? How are the trips? What about the reserve system? Most importantly, how is the money? If any current MDA flight attendant can answer any of these questions, I will most certainly appreciate it. 😀

Hey cancer, how you doin...

If you go on theHub you can look up the trip sheets and pairings, as well as the list of eligible F/As (I'm not sure if alot of people know this). Folks can also print the interest letter and fax it in rather than wait for the hard copy letter.

1100 F/As are eligible for the June, July, and August classes, and the deadline to bid is June 1st. The seniority is May 2000- November 2000 classes and they list everyones name on there, up to date as of Friday.

I know you know that cancer but I just wanted to throw that in for others who may not have seen it, before the thread turns into another big bash session towards the unemployed and those who choose MidAtlantic. 😉 🙄

From the F/As I've talked to most seem to be happy with the very short reserve time and lots of blocks, and MUCH happier with the crews (all junior! No attitudes). They are still working alot of things out and there's a good bit of frustration there, but for the most part people understand that they chose to be there and are making the best of it. There are some things in the contract that are bad but also some things that offer alot more flexibility than mainline. Not to mention its a big old family reunion from four years ago... 😉

Don't wait to long. I hear that most of them are working another job, just to pay for the comforts of home..Like email and the likes...just the other day I had a Stew serve me a Bud Lite, and 2 days later sold me a Big Mac with fries, in Philly.
and I am not sure , but the fellow behind the grill looked alot like a F/A that I have seen on other flights.

Most of them (myself included) worked another job as a mainline flight attendant anyway. Being a blockholder at MAA at $17.67 and a reserve at mainline at $20 both do not make for very much money at the end of the day.

P.S. If anyone is interested, I'd advise printing it off the hub and faxing it. Letters arrived today or will tomorrow certified mail, but to whatever address CCY has- for example, mine went to my family's house a few time zones away from my current location. Deadline is June 1st so faxing it may be the best way.

Hi folks... did you know I also have a PART TIME job- as a Flight Attendant! Only 85 hours a month! 🙄

I, for one, am very interested in the details....what's the flying like? What's the pay system? What is the vacation/sick time/pay scale all about? Those of us who have been furloughed since 9/11 are very curious as to whether we should even consider this. I have started with a new company since late 2001, and have worked my way up a bit, but still come home more tired and frustrated...more than ever, with all new stresses and worries that are worse than anything I've ever had before. I figure with my raise this year I'll be around $31,000 this year up from $17,500 when I started as a Temp. Still, I feel very unhappy with what I do daily. It just feels thankless, and does not make you feel "happy" or "fulfilled" at the end of the day. Even though it was short-lived, I felt so "special" when I was a flight attendant and really miss it sometimes. I realize it's not what it was even a few years ago, but I just want to know what I should expect from someone who knows because they are currently a MAA flight attendant now. I doubt I would seriously go back to US, because I can't imagine making less than I already do, but really...I wish I could fly again.

flyguy... if you know anyone there, talk to them. And go on theHub and take a look at thier trips and thier contract. If you've ever worked for another airline than US Airways, particularly an express airline, it's not too much of a shock. But its a big decision make sure you know all of the details- keep in mind if you do go you have to complete 90 days or your mainline recall is gone.

Its basically mainline plane, mainline trips, express pay.

Like I said, theres good things and bad things about it like anywhere according to my friends that are there- get the scoop from people who are actually there, not people on here.

Yes, the plane is fantastic, but galley space isnt quite a deciding factor in such a life decision.

For the ones who are interested in MDA. If you are wondering about the pay, most know that it is not anything to write home about. I can tell you though that the attitude there is of high spirits. It's a whole different ball game. People are just glad to be working again. A BIG plus is that one can work as many hours as one wishes (FAA regulated). Just some FYI

Piney Bob- When I read your posts, I can at the very least follow your thought pattern, but I find your latest comments insulting toward everyone that has ever worked as, or is currently, a working flight attendant. Maybe you should hold off on the "humorous" comments until you're latest "part-time occupation" comments fade away...one could easily dismiss you a "self-important, better than thou, self-indulgent, business-type" when really we ALL know better now...don't we?
