Nobody seems to have a clear cut answer on this, so I''ll pose it to this board:

Is MDA considered an addition to the mainline fleet of 279 aircraft and therefore NOT included in the overall scope relief for RJ''s, or is it part of the 465 RJ aircraft scope restriction?

Thanks

On that same note. Do the MDA aircraft count towards the total 415 RJ''s allowed under the scope? Or are they considered ML aircraft now the MDA is ML more or less?
Thanks

Hey Chip,

Here is an interesting twist to MDA. According to a Local President of the CWA, a customer service contract side letter states that any flight operated under the US Airways certificate is a mainline flight. So if MDA operates under the US certificate, customer service will be considered mainline. According to the president, discussions between the union and the company are on-going concerning this point.

The pilot contract says the same thing, any airplane operated under u''s 121 cert. is supposed to be under one contract.

This didn''t help the pilots, since MDA will have a seperate contract with substandard pay, even by express standards. (PSA is paid better for the 50 seat RJ)

I doubt CWA will fare any better.
