Mediated Talks for AA and TWU

Tom Horton, chief executive of parent AMR Corp., said the talks would be mediated by a bankruptcy judge...

Shouldn't a mediator be unbiased?

From the latest TWU update.
The mediated bargaining session will be for these two work groups and begins at 10:00am on Monday June 11. If no agreement is reached, the parties will reconvene on Tuesday June 12 at 1:00pm and continue until the close of business that day.

So if we come to a tentative agreement in 11 days how are we going to vote on it before the 22nd of June?
We could not get anything done in four years now we have 11 days to come to an agreement and have a vote completed. Not going to happen. Any answers on this time line??????? Will Jim Little just sign off on any agreement due to time restrictions?

The question would then be upon his, "without further ratification", how long would the TWU last before being replaced by another representative.?

If Jim was to pull the "without further ratification" again; It will in fact get the TWU removed from AA very quickly.

Apparently there is Global Issues in the so called me too clause, and it will be discussed on 11 June with all TWU" workgroups.

The reason for the issues lies in the open language and wording of the agreement. Loopholes? Did the union write this document? I'm sure they'll be hammering out a solution.
But, will it be fair, and will we know the truth?

If there's an agreement in principle on June 22nd but it hasn't gone out for vote, there are two options -- the judge could do rule for abrogation but defer implementation until the vote results are complete, or defer ruling on the abrogation motion until after the voting is concluded. Either way, I don't think you'll see Little signing off without further ratification. He wants to keep his hands clean on this.

That is easy. IMO...... The Judge will grant an extension based on the T/A, pending ratification by vote of the members.

There will be a time limit and a deadline for voting which should make TWU happy. The last vote was pushed to satisfy a deadline. Will they tell us, hey, don't think about it, just hurry up and vote, there is no time to discuss???????

If it passes, the union is happy, because dues, I mean jobs, are saved. and....no appeal by the union lawyers because the yes vote ratified the brand new contract.

With a No vote, the abrogation on 22 June is looming like a dark swirling cloud. Question now, what will the pilots and F/A's do? Will they get 'er done? and.... will all union voting deadlines be the same?

I forsee a vote very close to the Jun, 22 deadline with two choices from the TWU.

1. Vote yes brother

2. Vote no to abrogate.

11 days? A pilot friend of mine told me the groups were only getting TWO days of Mediation, not 11. If they don't get anything done within that time then that's it. Hope that's not true because if it is, then I guess the all the "theories" will be put in place by the Presidents.

Two days.... 11 days.... six years...

Some of y'all are proud of the fact you came to a deal with US in five days.

What it all comes down to is how willing you are to do a deal.

Not tooting the TWU horn, but how willing is the company willing to move.
