I heard there was a "meeting" in PHX today with a roach and an agent and another person. Heard a good time was had by all. Too bad some of you don't get up my way!! We all would have had a good time!!!

Meeting? What meeting?

Actually, I was the other person. We had lunch (and coffee), told stories (and drank more coffee) and generally had a pleasant few hours before a final cup of coffee.

The "roach" and his red pin should be in LAS by now....

Did someone say coffee? Yes, Hp fa, you were there and it was totally "orgasmic" to meet you and L4P. We'll have to do "it" again sometime! Drifterreno, you have to come on down and join the fun! Mama

Lady and Gentleman,

I do hope L4PI sent my regrets and kind regards, as I was originally supposed to be joining you today, but my schedule changed due to lack of confirmation of another meeting in PHX, and I flew to LAX via CLT instead.

I hope to meet both of you during my next visit to the PHX area.

Best regards,
Art

He passed along your regards as well as most of the FFOCUS folks.

I'm sure I could be coaxed out for another meeting. 🙂

If you can make it to GSO on Sat evening, there's going to be another gathering to salute our friend Boeing Boy on his permanent grounding, thanks to FAA reg's. Many roaches will be there to share some NC BBQ... except for the one you had lunch with today, but he'll be there in spirit.

That BBQ going to be Lexington style (tomato based sauce) or the real stuff (vinegar based)?

This issue is more important than war and taxes!

Did someone say coffee?

No....someone drank 18 cups of coffee all by themselves and didn't have to go the bathroom once. What a bladder. 😀 BTW, If PITBull reads this, I met your twin sister today. Full of fire and looks like you too....

Yes we did tell stories and lies and whatnot and I had a wonderful time for almost three hours. I met two wonderful people who enjoy what they do/did and hope to stay in touch with them. To keep this in the US forum let me offer a mini trip report on the west US.....

It had been a good ten years since I had flown through PHX terminal 4. I was very impressed by the remodel job between the 4 concourses. Cleared all those folks standing around rather quickly and headed to the gate. The A concourse was looking a little worn especially around the gate areas. Not bad as PHL but not as well taken care as CLT.

I sat and watched all the planes come and go and for the first time seeing all the new paint jobs on the birds reminded me of how important keeping the US name was. But then at the same time realizing that it must also be hard for the HP employees to not see their names on the birds.

Watch several gates load and the gate agents were very helpful, courteous and basically looking like they were enjoying there jobs. This was good to see.

Boarded a 319 on time and was offered a predeparture drink. I thought the west did not do that.... Had a great A F/A who you could tell also enjoyed her job. She was personable and greeted warmly all who boarded. The layout on this bird was the two small walls separating the galley. Took me a while to get used to it. No coat closet either, but did have hangers for coats. I still think that is crazy btw, but I'm guessing that is not going to change.

We were told we were going to wait for 12 pax connecting from Cabo, but after about ten minutes we shut the door and off we went. Once in the air the crew continued to offer great service and I became hooked quickly on the chocolate biscoffs. Those alone could bring me back to US.

Plane was clean but very well worn. Seat sat like a park bench and I was glad it was only an hour flight. There was no pen art on the seats to enjoy. We landed in LAS about 15 minutes early and bags showed up quickly. I chuckled at the safety video and all the HP footage and signage in it.

All in all I was very impressed. After reading some of the posts here I was not expecting the great service and employees.

So for those of you on the west I tip my hat to you.....

I guess I should mention that I only wore my KDMD button for identification so we could meet up. I figured, correctly btw, that I would be the only person in T-4 wearing one of those big red buttons. This merger is not a fight between the employees (or customers)and I had no desire to rub it in any ones face. Now had I had the chance to see doogie.....

I did run into a T/A on break reading the DL ALPA ad in USA Today and we talked for awhile about the merger. It was interesting to get the perspective from a 20+ year employee.

So to PhxMama and hp_fa, the pleasure was all mine. Till next time......

Wished you could have been there. Were your ears burning, cause we did talk about ya......

The real stuff and some of the best I've eaten. Nothing but the best for BB.

How's the brisket?
Piney,

They do have what they call "coarse chopped" which is basically big chunks of BBQ pork. While my personal preference is for the regular chopped BBQ, the coarse isn't bad.

Texas style dry rub beef brisket is my favorite type of BBQ. Done right it's NOT shoe leather. Neither NC style pulled beef.
Ok somebody has their work cut out for them. Will somebody please explain to this Yankee this weekend that brisket is not BBQ?

OK there. BBQ lesson #1, you have essentially 4 styles of BBQ.

Texas Style - usually done dry with beef, pork, turkey or saugage. BBQ sauce is usually added to taste. I prefer the brisket at Rudy's in Austin. BBQ'e Turkey breast at Dickies in Irving TX is also quite tasty as is their Saugage

Memphis style - Nice and gooey with Molasses based sauce, Corky's is world renown and there is another place in Memphis that slips my mind

NC Style - Vinegar based sauce, sandwichs are usually served with cole slaw as a topping. Our Primary BBQ vendor at Grey Fox Bluegrass festival make a very nice NC style BBQ, He's at a lot of events. Dale Bishops Pig Pickin' BBQ

KC/StLouis style- Never really had this style although I did get my sister two racks of St louis style for a present and they were smoked AND dry rubed and looked great.

To me BBQ is like sex, the worst I ever had was still good.

Yum! You got me hungry. Except no vinegar please. Yuh!
