Merger Activity

LCC will eventually merge with Frontier and Alaska.

Take it to the bank.

FWAAA, Ooops!
I guess I should have had my reading glasses on.

autofixer,

At least your US number is shares (though it doesn't include the 1 million share purchase from Eastshore this month). Don't know about the rest....

Although Hawaiian has more of a Pacific reach than Aloha.

And they have widebodies which US needs. If more 75's are coming, some of the Hawaiian routes could be replaced with 75's which have about the same capacity seatwise as 76's, right?

That's true, but LCC wouldn't merge for the sake of aircraft. Any merger would be due to acquiring profitable routes. If LCC wants A/C there should be plenty sitting in the desert for relatively cheap prices, and without the headache of another merger.

I just tossed Aloha in because I don't know if LCC is looking at Pacific expansion. Aloha handles that Hawaiian Islands nicely, and is fine if you just want that market. Hawaiian is a strong contender if you wanted to look at New Zealand/Australia/Pacific Rim routes.

I'm putting mine in for

1. Hawaiian ...for the reasons Silent Warrior spoke of

or

2. Alaska... to shore up west coast build up

or

3. BOTH...well I wanna live in Hawaii...just kidding

Please don't ask me where and when, but I predicted the US/AWA merger and everyone thought I was crazy..you know, the CAL investment..etc.

Too bad I don't do as well in the lottery.

Just my own personal opinion...but hopefully we are through with mergers for awhile....a long while.

Out of curiosity...does anyone really think that Alaska needs to merge with another airline? With their virtual monopoly flying intrastate in Alaska, and charging exorbitant fares in those markets, they pretty much seem to be able to hold their own.

What and let them overtake US Airways dominance in exorbitant fares. 😛

Seriously, now that you put it that way...ok...scratch Alaska...just HAL!

I'm with you. No more mergers for a long while. B)

good grief.....the man is 69 years old....perhaps he just wants to enjoy retirement! Don't read to much into that.

My money is on Hawaiian....although the entry of GO! into the Hawaiian inter-island market who knows.....I still think Hawaiian is a perfect fit and give us the pacific reach we need.

Only problem with HA is that they just signed an exclusive deal with NW regarding intraisland flights.
NW/HA Deal

why is that a problem? HP had a codeshare with Virgin, Hawaiian, Jordanian, and I thought even NW.

Perhaps they will eye both NW and HA--remember, Parker spent four years with Northwest Airlines as vice president and assistant treasurer, and vice president of financial planning and analysis. And, Derek Kerr Prior served in various financial planning and analysis positions with Northwest Airlines before joining HP. And, Jeffrey McClelland got a Chem E degree from NORTHWESTern University 😉

Because the HP deals werent "exclusive" deals like the HA/NW deal. Now if NW is brought into the mix or they canx this deal, then maybe. As far as the NW deal, I hope not. I have had more than enough dealings with their employees and I would hate to see that. You think there are problems with the US/HP people (some of them at least). It would be 10 times worse with a US/NW deal, just taken from personal experience. And you guys think US people have tudes.... A NW agent actually had the nerve to tell us that our "merger wedding" looked more like a funeral.

I have reason to believe that a Frontier and US Airways merger is an active option. Will it happen? Maybe, maybe not.
