US Airways cleared to exit bankruptcy

US Airways Group Inc. (OTCBB: USABQ - News) has had its reorganization plan approved by a bankruptcy court judge. The airline will be allowed to merge with America West Airlines to create the nation's fifth-largest airline.

"This is a great day for both US Airways and America West," said Bruce R. Lakefield, president and CEO of US Airways, in a press release. "For our customers, we are about to become the kind of airline that they have been asking for: a global carrier offering full-service amenities and simplified fares. For our employees, this merger will provide more stability and a chance to be a part of a vibrant new company."

awesome huh. it's already been posted. but what the heck, keep on posting it. this is excellent news for usairways and it's employees. and i mean all employees including our friends in phx and las.

NO! Not awesome to APPROVE the Execs TRP because it is coming out of the new investor monies.

This managment will not protect those f/as whose lines of flying had MSY cancellations in them. After 3 concessions from our f/as we can't even get a lousy Sept. pay protection for New Orleans cancellations, BUT YET HAVE INVESTOR MONEY TO SQUANDER ON THESE DAMN 23 EXECS!!!!


And no one in CCY will call me back on pay protecting our f/as for these cancellations because they are too busy celebrating their millions.

your right pitt. it does suck that the trp was approved. but guess what bitching an moaning ain't gonna change it. i am tired of bitching and moaning .i really am. it hasn't gotten us anywhere. we pissed and moaned about the paycuts they came and went. we pissed and moaned about the pensions they also came and went. i am begining to think that the union has no leverage anymore. for once it looks like something good is coming out of all of this . finally there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel. maybe i am drinking some of that kool-aid. so what, its tasting good right about now. did we sacrifice alot to get here? yes. did i like it? no. i appreciate all you have done for us pitt. i really do. you fought long and hard for our protection. thank you very much for that. i totally undestand where your coming from but we need to move foward and think positive and hope all this works out.

There is no "given relief" to these f/as who have been DIRECTLY impacted by Katrina by the loss of work and hours making it difficult to pay their bills with these trips taken out of their lines and CANCELLED!!!!!!

The pilot and flight attendant contract does not provide a means for personnel to get paid for trip cancellations unless it is the last trip of the month. Those pilots and flight attendants who lost flying due to the New Orleans airport closure have the ability to pick up a different trip, work, and get paid.

I believe PitBull is trying to get Flight Attendants paid for not working, which is not provided for in the AFA contract.

Employees have given 3 rounds of concessions.

For 2 days, no one in PIT could pick up a trip from the bid sheet. Extra time is just not in the smaller bases.

You should know this.
