Dispute my facts.
I'd love to dispute your facts, but you haven't stated any. Your only statements were opinions. I know, it's because that's the way you've always done it. 😛
Dispute my facts.
Stats regarding 5000 tranatlantic flight completed consecutively were all over. Got an e-mail plus it was on FlyerTalk and here. It was during the Siegel years. Same with the #1 in on time performance banners plastered all over the airports. I'm certain somebody far more anal than I has saved the info or knows where to retrieve it from. SHARES minus the QIK overlay would be a command line "Green Screen" program. DOS, UNIX, IBM Mainframes all are command line systems. mouse driven systems such as Mac, Windows, QIK are nothing more than GUI's that make it easier to hire $8.72/hr folks and have them trained in a few days. People resist change when there is no hard evidence that the change will make their job easier or faster. Thus the resistance because the older US front line staff fails to see the use of QIK/SHARES as a faster, better, cheaper solution. The botched res migrations proves to me at least that the front liners knew/know more than the executives
This is true of ANY merger or corporate downsizing. You want selflessness and altruism become a monk!
Show me! provide a statement of cash flows for both airlines. The only reason that the airline exists today is due to the investors seeing long term growth potential for their investment. It was also the only way to preserve their current assets. HP & US were headed for the grave yard just at different speeds and it is highly doubtful that either as a standalone would be operating this day if not for the financial talents of Bruce Lakefield, Seabury Group and Doug Parkers willingness to do a deal. Doug and Mr Lakefield were "money guys" and TOGETHER they made the deal fly. Without them and their consultants it would a whole different airline industry in the US.
Once again I respectfully ask you:
You have the US technology, policies and procedures as a constant. The workforce is essentially a constant. The variable is the respective management teams in place at the time.
Given the above, which Management Team has performed better as reflected by the DOT stats?
Ever been to a Town Hall Meeting?Certainly nobody speaks out like this in public forums when Dugie or Scotty are present.
AGAIN CLUELESSOUCH...That really hurts coming from a senior lav truck driver!
True, the merger has not gone well, but it is mostly due to using East procedures and systems because they were supposedly cheaper. Whoever sold management on that bit of goods did a great whitewash job. We essentially stepped back 2 decades technologically by using the East systems, and by doing so dragged HP down in the muck.
This is what happens when bean counters run an airline.
Not to be a one line wonder but where were you?Gee, where were all you geniuses when all these merger decisions were being made? Where are you now? Certainly nobody speaks out like this in public forums when Dugie or Scotty are present.
You have displayed no credibility.I'd love to dispute your facts, but you haven't stated any. Your only statements were opinions. I know, it's because that's the way you've always done it. 😛
Dear Spammy,
Before your flame baiting gets totally out of hand consider this regarding technology.
Nowhere on EDS's website is there mention of support for the SHARES system. There is a press release from '05 announcing the integration contract. But in that Press Release or the subsequent one regarding a support contract for CO their is no specific mention of the SHARES operating system.
If it were such a great, grand & wonderful system don't you think EDS would be touting the crap out of it?
Another question for you to not answer.
How come the US systems worked fine for US prior to HP's D.I.Y Information Technology folks got hold of it?
Wow, what a bunch of koolaid drinking dunderheads! Probably Stiller fans too. This piece of dung FOS system that is so great was written back in the early 60s and was dumped on US Airways by American several years back. It is this great system which is the single greatest point of failure in the flight planning and weight and balance system. The PHL union pondscum personnel combined with the dinosaur East processes and systems will be the end of you r low rent airline.
America West should have never bailed US Airways out.

Excuse Me? Both airlines were headed down the toilet, except that US Airways had investors behind them. GE Capital, Air Wisconsin are two that I can think of. And it was US Airways that had the financing set in place, not DoUgIe Porker. But I don't want to make this an E vs W.Wow, what a bunch of koolaid drinking dunderheads! Probably Stiller fans too.
