Offshoring the MLK statue to a country that has no civil rights or recognition of religion... it's like handing out union t-shirts made in Bangladesh and signs printed in Mexico for an AFL-CIO rally.

We've seen how well civil rights have evolved under the godless Chinese communist system. If you're all for a society that bans the mention of God, please feel free to emmigrate.

Well, you are right about one thing. Had the churches in England and the rest of Europe not persecuted the people who believed differently they never would have fled for the new world. A large portion of the founders were deists, not theist. Also note that there is not a single mention of god in the COTUS which is the foundation of all law in the US.

We live in a country where there is no loyalty or allegiance. People will follow the dollar regardless of where it takes them. I do not see why were are surprised at this turn of events. I try to buy US products where I can but it is increasingly difficult to do so.

I'll stay here in the US if you do not mind. It is not the removal of religion from the public domain that is the issue. The issue with China and other dictatorships is they they wish to control the private lives as well as the public lives of their prisoners (citizens). No where in the US is anyone telling you that you may not go to your church or a private location and pray till your heart is content. That is the neat thing about the COTUS. It guarantees my rights just as it does yours.

Refresh my Memory, but wasn't the Viet Nam Memorial built with public funds? I believe it was. If so therein lies the difference. Government projects have prevailing wage laws associated with them. Not going to debate the relative merits of that set of laws.

For certain the MLK Foundation is a private not for profit organization and as such has a fiduciary obligation to it's BOD to get the most for the least. They did so and as another poster pointed out that Dr King would be none to happy with those in charge of the Foundation that bears his name.

The design team should have been tasked with making any alterations to the plan in order to ensure the project could be completed by US Workers.

Probably would have been easier to get Non-Organized labor to donate their time. Can you imagine the unionized man-power it would have taken for this project ?
