Morgan Stanley to help finance US Air's Delta bid

"New Delta" may just happen after all.

My apologies if the spanish is grammatically incorrect.

The wheels have come off pending the DL creditors committee. To think otherwise is foolish. It's all in the creditors hands. These banks, Doogie, the tooth-fairy all have zero leverage at this point.

Yes, sirree.

FOLLOW THE MONEY.

Take yourself out of the emotional, personal, aviation oriented mode and you will see how clear this is. Investment firms have been buying up Delta's debt at a discount -- making them unsecured creditors -- and want the best return on their investment, now, which is why they would prefer the merger over the stand-alone plan.

There is only one thing more powerful than labor = MONEY. Democratic congress or not, money talks. Money rules.

And there's a 3rd investment firm waiting in the wings to join this syndicate, too? Very, very interesting.

Does this mean, if necessary, there's more money available to USA to not only buy Delta, but then, also, to buy parts of Northwest, too, when no one wants them as their dance partner (i.e. Pacific routes)?

Also, can Citigroup and/or MorganStanley and/or party #3 also invest in any other merger -- is that a conflict of interest? Or are they able to do that?

FOLLOW THE MONEY. Suivez l'argent. Folgen Sie dem Geld. Seguir el dinero. Seguir o dinheiro (Portuguese)

Not entirely accurate. Remember, under either scenario (DL or US/DL), the creditors will recieve new value in the form of shares of the reorganized company. This means that the creditors return will be based on the value of the security at the time they sell (not including any cash given).

Thus, the creditors will be concerned about the stock price after discharge. Often, Investment Bank heavyweights are able to inflate/deflate the price of a certain share. It is as simple as telling the IB's Equity and Sales division to push a certain stock or sector, thereby often artificially inflating the security for a given time period.

Knowing this, the creditors in bankruptcy often lend an ear to the scrutiny coming out of Wall Street. It wouldn't make sense to accept a plan if Wall Street is saying we will not push this reorganized stock on our institutional customers nor will we purchase it ourselves. By all means, I am not saying that Wall Street is making such statements, but simply using it as a point that such banks often do have some type of pull in these situations.

Nonetheless, you are correct in stating that, at this point, it is solely the creditors' decision.

It's all about you isn't it ? Why can't you take care of the employees first ? I thought morale was bad in the past, boy was i wrong. It is at the lowest I've ever seen at least where I am.
I know you don't care about the employees but if this airline is a mess now, "we aint seen nothing yet".

What the ??? Why the personal attack?

Excuse me, Coach Rowsey, but where in my previous post is it "all about me?" Where did I ever say I don't care about the employees? Whew, someone wants to pick a fight when I was merely talking about the money and the merger -- not even discussing the employees and how it will effect them. Apparently, you do not know me, personally. I DO take care, very good care as a matter of fact, of my fellow employees. Outstanding care.

Also, if you are as unhappy and angry as you seem to be from you posts, it looks to me like you have 2 choices:
1. Stop your complainin' and get with the program,
Or
2. Find a job outside the aviation industry.

And yes, it is that easy -- once you make the conscious choice.

I am merely facing/stating the facts -- the reality, as I see it -- and have chosen, at this time anyways, to make the best of it. I cannot control 99.99999999% of what is going to happen and what goes on at this here airline, but I can have a positive attitude and know, at the end of the day, that I have done my best. No one is forcing me to stay and no one is forcing you to stay, either -- and with your attitude and others like it, I'm sure we "ain't seen nothing yet."

Wouldn't it be so much easier to put your energy into a postive outlook and getting along? And, if you've already done that and tell me it hasn't worked, then maybe you should seriously consider another field of work. Life's too short to be that angry and unhappy.

And yet the creditor's still haven't called for "due diligence". And where the hell did my good friend ralphcramden go, ever since he announced that bombshell, i haven't seen hide nor hair of him? Whats wrong ralphy, cat got your tongue?

Breath of Fresh USAIRWAYS, you are right I don't know you & you don't know me. If you really care about your employees God bless you . You appear to be the exception to the rule. My apology on that.
The morale issue: Please tell me why EVERY DAY we do not have enough help & are forced to try and do 2 or 3 peoples jobs & when you are doing the best you can you have a lead who just will not shut up trying to force you do more ?
Why do we have MANY people out on oji ? Could it be do to trying to do several peoples job ? I could go on but will stop. FYI regardless of any personal opinions I give it my best each day.

Oh & one more thing how about taking a few calls in the middle of the morning from depressed employees ?

And that has served you ohhh sooo well over the last 5 years.

I'm glad you guys stick around truely I am but for the life of me I don't know why.
I am glad you ask 25days vacation a year
5 days of holidays or pay
12 sick days a year
Shift premiums
$21.14 hr
just to name some
Not great by something to build on

And that has served you ohhh sooo well over the last 5 years.
Just ask the American West agent how they like pre union $13.10 max merit pay an hour. Part-timers pay and benefits and other pre-union issues. This would have been what the new US Airway agents would have ended up with without the union I know management sure try to give the new USAirway HP paid/benefits/work rules

Did Citigroup and Morgan Stanley move to the other side of the table?Article

Doubt it. This is probably more about the mini-cratering of the LCC stock, which if it keeps going, will reduce the value of the deal significantly thus requiring more financing.
