My Town

When I was in PIT for the communications conference years ago, they shot a labor day celebration theme for the week, we were audience members all contestants were union members and all prizes awarded that week were union made.

What town are those about?
They are not.

I would like to see the 7 Bridges road that inspired that song though, if you happen to know where it is.

I didn't have any libtard comments so I needed some filler, just kidding. 🙂

Inhofe?

You mean the guy who has been cited for his reckless flying twice? Almost killed airport workers in Texas by landing on a closed runway because he felt entitled.

And then does this:

The incident that spurred Inhofe to introduce this bill was not a minor FAA violation. He jeopardized the lives of workers at the airport. Here is a description of the incident from an earlier Foolocracy story:

What Inhofe did not do was check the Notices to Airmen that pilots are supposed to check beforehand. If Inhofe had done that, he would have seen that one of the runways was closed. It also had a large X on it to warn forgetful pilots. That is large as in 60 by 10 in bright yellow.

With four runways, where does Inhofe come into land? Yep, right where the X is at. That runway had six vehicles and workers on it.

Inhofe claimed that he was distracted in the cockpit because he was showing one of his three passengers the instrument panel.

An FAA report on the incident notes When pilot did notice the X panel on the threshold of the runway on short final, he still elected to land avoiding the men and equipment on the runway.

Inhofe avoided a collision by touching his plane down and then hopping over the men and equipment. Of course, those working on the runway were not thrilled.

Marshall Reece, the airport manager, summed up Inhofes flying.

I got over fifty years flying, three tours in Vietnam, 23,000 hours, I can assure you I have never seen such a reckless disregard for human life in my life.

There's more:

"TulsaWorld.com reports that Inhofe said he was unaware of the runway's closure NOTAM because of "a bad relationship he has with one individual, who the Senator said declined to take his phone calls before the flight and did not tell him about the NOTAM." In the Washington Post's coverage, Inhofe said an airport official "hates me, I don't know why." The FAA's current interest is why the landing happened while the runway was clearly marked with the requisite oversized Xs. It will attempt to determine why Inhofe was apparently not aware of a NOTAM about the closure and investigate the circumstances of the taxiway departure. The airport has four runways but according to AirNav all except the main one (13/31) are in poor condition."

"In his 50 years as a pilot, Inhofe has experienced at least two other publicized incidents. In 1999, Inhofe suffered an emergency landing when his aircraft lost its propeller, and in 2006 he ground-looped a Vans RV-8 built by his son."

The rest of the story:

In response to the incident, Inhofe stated that he "did nothing wrong", and accused the FAA of "agency overreach" and causing a "feeling of desperation" in him. He agreed to take a remedial training program, and the FAA agreed not to pursue legal action against him if he took the program. In July 2011, Inhofe introduced a bill to create a "Pilot's Bill of Rights" which he said would increase fairness in FAA enforcement actions.[81] The bill was passed in 2012.

The more conservative, the better:

Inhofe is one of the most conservative members of either house of Congress (the eighth-most conservative senator, according to the March 2007 National Journal rankings of Liberal/Conservative members of Congress.
