What's new

Name that airport

not one hundred percent sure.... but its is my recollection that USAir did not ever fly to
SLC.... they announced that we were.... but our famous CEO who let us to the grave decided
at the last minute not to go... so ..... we never flew there....
When USAir bought PSA they flew into SJC with USAIr colors that lasted till the 91 shut down of the west coast operations thanks to R Malin decsion to not compete with SW. This is the same guy who once told me SW will never come to the east coast they would not make any money and would have to hub and spoke.

Could it be old DEN at Stapelton? We only had two gates there and the mountains would have been there.

Thank you for your insight..

So we never really flew into SLC w/ the USAIR Name??/

Actually, east metal had SLC overnights this past summer. We've also had them off and on even before PIT closure. My only question that could put this picture at the SLC airport is whether or not west metal has an airbus painted in Star Alliance livery, or could that plane be United or another airline?

Yes we do now.... but the the original post was referring to back when we had just merged the three airlines.... US , PI, PSA

A plane in *A livery eliminates the possibility of the picture being that old - the *A began in 1997.

The gate numbers (15 & 17) plus the mountains in the background suggest that ETOPS is correct.

My guess is SLC. It has to be a city that east metal flys or has flown to in the past.

Not SLC, because the terminal and concourses there are dark brown and the gate numbers all begin with letters (A, B, C) in respect to their concourses. US Airways is on the "A" Concourse and only has one gate in operation there. I think this picture is definitely Luis Munoz International in San Juan, PR.

US has NEVER flown a 767 or an A330 to SLC, people think, there are LD3s and LD8s in the pic.

AFAIK, US does not use gate 15 or 17 in SJU. US gates are currently 37 and 38.

Did anyone submit a guess to USA Today?
The gates read 35 and 37 ..look closely. And if you look even more the gate next to the star alliance 319 is a delta gate. It has the blue painted on the jetway . Delta parks next to US in sju .
