Now, now, NH/BB....I'm sure his fly over @ 2500 ft. meant the world to the folks broiling in the Superdome, Convention center, etc.. 🙄 🙄

If any doubts continue to linger as to how effectively Bush is
handling this major catastrophe, please visit Yahoo's home page,
click on "news" at the top left, then click on "photos" at the top
left. Scroll down and you will see a photo of our president
gleefully playing the guitar at a visit to a military base (during his "I
promise this really is a valid war" tour). The photo was taken
scarcely 36 hours after Katrina hit the gulf coast.

Let us think about this for a minute: If this horrific event had
taken place under Clinton's administration, and if Clinton had been
photographed playing the saxophone with a big grin on his face mere
hours after the hurricane struck, how would the media and the
Republicans have reacted?

Such fine leadership from our president...complemented by Condi Rice's
theatre hopping and shoe shopping in Manhattan yesterday and today.
Is this what they mean when they say they are "compassionate
conservatives"?

Peace,

It's funny how in a time of catastrophe, the blame game and criticism machine go the front of the pack. Everyone seems to have all the answers AFTER something happens. I have even heard from the liberal left that because of Bush's policies on global warming, he caused Katrina and caused it to have the devastating effect it did.
I also heard the Bush is just absolutely jumping with joy that millions of people are impacted by this. He's ecstatic that his oil industry buddies are getting even richer.
It is one thing to hate the person for his policies, but to blame him for natural disasters is ridiculous.
When hurricane Andrew it, the storm and water came in, and went out. When the tsunami came in at wiped out the enormous number of people it did, it came in and went out. New Orleans is a bathtub with no drain. It's Bush's fault the levee was breached.
It's Bush's fault that the desperation has caused the looting of electronics and jewlelry.

What does desperation have to do with RAPING woman down in New Orleans?

Bush's fault, I guess.

The first desperate soul with a looted gun firing at a Medivac or rescue chopper that is killed by a National Guardsman or local police officer, well, Bush's fault!

Now that he's flying down there, it will take enormous resources needed more for search and rescue, just for the trip.

The election is over, he can't run for office again! 2008 will be here before you know it.

If you are lucky, President Hillary will make it all right. She can take the hundreds of billions of dollars used for wars and just hand it over to the poor so they can rebuild and live off the government.

It's easy to blame the government, but who is holding the guns to the heads of Hummer and Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Suburban owners to purchase these vehicles so the stay at home soccer moms can run to the mall and pick the kids up at school?

So why not do your parts for relief!

Cancel that vacation, and donate the money!
Stop taking the family to McDonalds and donate the money!
Shop at Walmart for all your needs and donate the saved money!
Sell your cars, and carpool or take public transportaion and donate the money!

Oh, I forgot, the TWU helped take away my money already!

Look at yourselves first and see what you are doing to conserve energy!
Look at yourselves and see what you are doing for less fortunate.

Just remember, the balance of power will shift once again. You may get your President Hillary!

Good luck.

So feel free to respond and lambast me. I am done with this board because I have just realized I am no better than anyone here. We have turned an AVIATION forum for discussion into a political arena. I am guilty of it!

I can respond with Jimmy Carter's deregulation administration and Clinton's NAFTA pet project.
But hey, deregulation is history, no?

But I won't!

So please feel free to reply to this post. I will not be reading any of it or anything else on this board for that matter.
Just don't think I would not reply to your further criticisms!

Good day all!

Who has reduced the Army Corps of Engineers budget every year since 2000? Bush

Here's some more commentary on the Government, but this is from people on the ground in New Orleans:

Terry Ebbert, the head of New Orleans' emergency operations, was unimpressed by the explanations offered by the
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other departments.

"This is a national disgrace," he said. "FEMA has been here three days, yet there is no command and control. We can send massive amounts of aid to (Asian) tsunami victims, but we can't bail out the city of New Orleans."

Sorry Buck, your hero can't sneak away. The waterways are the responsibility of the Feds since the founding of the US.

So the Feds have no responsibilities to the citizens of the United States? My Passport does not say Oklahoma citizen, it says US citizen, and that is where I expect support to come from when the state abilities are overwhelmed.

If the Gov of my state warned of impending disaster and ordered everyone to evacuate and I get left behind that means I should blame Pres Bush and all Republicans. I should demand the US Government do something for me. I was warned but, hey you... know Geo W lies. If I scream and yell I can get more free from the FED. Yea I know there'll be a lot who will beleive me when I say "I's so poor I's couldn't gets out". Never mind that I didn't try cause 'I's waiten soes I could do some lootin and gets whats mine"
Yes I know there are those are truly in need, but I'm sorry ( and I know I'll catch hell on this one) I don't have a lot sympathy for most of those able bodied left behind.
What about the blizzareds back east in Jan & Feb all our southern bretheren do is laugh and say they are in the 70s and don't own a snow shovel. Well what goes around comes around. They choose to live in a below sea level city knowing the big one is coming. Listen up SFO...
We make choices in life and we must pay for them and not expect someone else to bail us out because of our stupidity.
You play with fire you get burned.
I know It unpopular, but thats the way it is.
OKAY your turn fire away. I'll sit back and... and what? Nothing.. you won't change my mind

So you proud Democrats: just what has the govenor of Louisana been doing the past few days? She's the one who can use troops to enforce order. Hmmm?

So what did the city of New Orleans do to prepare for a hurricane? Looks like the Mayor and city did almost nothing. They want a handout from the Federal government to fix their problems--made much worse by their own lack of planning/preparation.

The Corp of Engineers didn't get the money they asked for? Why? Because the Corp of Engineers is a pork barrell bureaucracy. Why didn't the city of New Orleans/state of Louisiana protect its city? Because they wanted the Federal government to pick up the tab. I agree it's a federal responsibility to take care of waterways--but not to protect reclaimed swamp land.

The Federal government is the backup, the help when the situation is horrible (which it is), but the state of LA and city of New Orleans weren't prepared and have struggled to act. The only thing they've done well is find someone else to blame.

And the Feds have bulit levees. There are those that have stated that the current administration has removed funding for these levees?

With those states affected and overwhelmed, the government is responding. If you can do the job better than why have you not left for the effected area? No one really cares what you expect.

The water is flowing from the firehoses, the military is establishing order, people are being rescued and food and water is being distributed and electricity is being restored, thanks to the government that you despise so much.

In your view, we should raise taxes to generate handouts to the states. Your socialistic ideas are for declared Socialist countries - Cuba for example - I will pay for your passage if you would like to move there.

DFWCC, I agree with your post. The people were told to GET OUT in advance of the storm! Anyone with a half a brain knows that when you are below sea level, surrounded by a gulf (of Mexico), a river(Mississippi), and a lake (Poncitran sp?) you should LEAVE. It was also known that the levees could only withstand a category 3 hurricane. Katrina was a category 5! All the people would have to have done is go about 100 miles North. How much does a Bus or train ticket cost to go 100 miles North of MSY? I can't be that much! They say that they are too poor to afford it. But seeing on TV that many are "way overnourished" ( and they probably have cable TV also); if find that excuse a little lame. I think that many of them defied the evacuation orders and stayed in order to loot; but they did not count on the city being underwater. It is one thing to take what you need to survive (food, water, juice, diapers, medication, these things would have spoiled anyway, might as well let the people have these necessitities ) but it is quite another to loot jewlry, clothes, guns, and nintendo games. Those who looted the nonessentials should have been shot and killed on the spot along with those who are firing on the cops, the military, and search and rescue teams. We have read about the looting and rapes. In another article, it was written that at the superdome, crack was being smoked and a 7 year old was raped in the bathroom. When hurricane Mitch hit Central America and the psunami hit Asia (BOTH PLACES A LOT POORER THAN MSY AND MANY MANY MORE PEOPLE KILLED) the people's behavior in these countries were superior to what we are now seeing in MSY. MSY is now more like Haiti and Somolia where roving heavily armed thugs fire on the very people who are trying to save them. As much as I dislike Bush, he CAN NOT not be blamed for the individual decisions of the able-bodied to not leave. But the state and locals officials are to blame for not getting the non-able bodied people out.

Hey Bush was photographed kissing a black child today...If that's not a compassionate conservative, I dont know what is... :afro:
