Sorry no picture to post, but I noticed a US livery I've never seen before yesterday (5/30) in the Afternoon at B6 in PHL. The tail had a ring of stars reminding me of the Betsy Ross Flag, as well as the lettering for US Airways seemed like a slightly different font??? Tried to find a pic but was unable to locate one. Does anyone have any idea what this special livery is supposed to represent?

What you saw was a Republic Airways Embraer 170 which is currently in service for US Airways Express. The aircraft was one of the original US Airways MidAtlantic division aircraft which was purchased and then sold to Republic upon emergence from the most recent bankruptcy.

806, 821 and 822 are in that "transition" livery. That was to be the livery in between transferring all the E170s from US to F9. Obviously we know F9 canceled the RPA contract so now they will either get repainted in the new US livery (Likely wont happen since the company wants to go to all 175s). Or what my guess is that RPA will transfer them to their Shuttle America division and have TCF fly them for DL.

... with the pilots' pension ...

... and then sold to Republic ....

... effectively putting those pension payments into the hands of the new stockholders and the pockets of management.

Ya gotta luv kapitalizm!

The customer service pension and the fleet services pension went to fund a pilot early retirement to get rid of the ex Braniff boys along with paying furlough pilots there salary and giving mechanic and related raises and company contribute 401k

Yeah, nothing classier than Republic and all of the loss of mainline jobs they've caused

I just stated that the paint scheme looked classy. I wasn't implying anything else.

Hey the whole end of "B" con in Pittsburgh loaded up with ex Frontier 170's yesterday was classy. Every tail in the animal kingdom.

When Parker (who claimed he "hated" the whole MidAtlantic-Republic scenario) allowed RP to fly even larger E175s, RP struck a deal with Frontier to fly some of the E170s, but they have since dumped the deal. Now US may be pondering parking more mainline planes and selling our own Embraers, but miraculously we have open arms for more contract mainline replacement aircraft. Who cares if it has a cow or a ferret on the tail, it could have a clown's face or a pile of dog doo on the tail and it wouldn't make US look any stupider than it already does.
