I'm hoping they go with boeing this time. Especially the 787.

Any rumors about new planes (other than the 190) are only to effect negotiations underway. They could never admit that they plan to replace all 737s with the 190. Do your your own job! I fly American now!

Why do you care what affect a new aircraft order can have
on their negotiations if you fly American now?

Well show up to CHQ tomrw, April 4th and see for yourself what they have going on...narrow body seating interiors are being chosen by the Marketing dept. I saw today several trucks carting in large cargo boxes from the several vendors in the running.

Make sure they set it up to reflect the USAirways standard 31 inch (minus) seat pitch. Then have the Sandcastle wizzos try them out and see if they can eat a meal or use their laptops when Sherri Shamblin reclines her seat back.

Im gonna guess that its gonna be the narrow and wide body order from either Boeing or Airbus. I would like to see Boeing get it with the 787 and 737, but I have a strange feeling its gonna be Airbus. The reason for this, as someone pointed out in another thread is that Airbus cannot afford to lose this order, and will drop their pants bend over and provide there own lube to make sure they get it. Where boeing , would like the order but will have no issue selling the slots to someone else if US doesn't take them.

Judging by the results of this poll, I believe it is mistitled.

It should have been:

New Aircraft Order, What aircraft do you WISH US would order? Boeing or Airbus

That would be more in line with the results of the poll, rather than in line with what the reality will be.

 Could not agree more lol. Who knows though mabey they will see the light and come to the conclusion that the 787 in 2011 is better than chancing not getting the a350 and if it does actually get built not until 2013 and probably delayed beyond that.

Boeing would really love to get the Order, they May give US a deal that they can not turn down, cause they know Airbus can not afford to lose this order. They know they can hurt Airbus by US choosing Boeing. Boeing could throw some 777's in for the interim. Saying Boeing has nothing to lose would be incorrect, they have a chance to put the jagger threw Airbus' heart.

Please explain why Boeing would give US a deal on B787's.
You do realize that airplane is practically selling itself, right? It hasnt even flown yet and it has sold 514 airframes to date. Thats more than any other commercial a/c in history at this stage in the game.
Boeing is more likely to tell US, "show me the money" before any serious negotiations begin.

An article in today's Aviation Daily says that Boeing has topped 500 orders for the 787 and that it is "essentially sold out through 2013." They are looking at ways to increase the production rate in the 2009 and after time frame, which would make some delivery slots available.

I'm sure they will be the cheapest to purchase and the most uncomfortable along with being the most expensive to maintain.

But hey it makes this Quarters numbers look good.

Instead of your usual "Bashing" why don't you stop over at HQ (SNA-PHX-PHL)during your PHX layover and check out the new seats? I did last night while the seat OEMs were setting up, some are very comfortable, and have integrated some very nice features within the seat itself.
Regards
DC

I have a feeling we will hear of a major announcement for B787 orders from American Airlines in the USA and British Airways in the EU. That would support additional production for years to come.

Its not that Boeing needs US' order, but its the damage it could do to Airbus by them getting the order. Look at the long run, if US goes, would the A350 ever get off the ground? Also by getting some 737's, which I think would be better since the A320's range capability.

The A350 will fly with or without a purchase from US, the EU governments will see to that. In addition, Boeing will not offer US the sort of discounts on B787 that Airbus would/will offer on A350, print it 😉
