US Airways Expands Caribbean Service With New Routes and Additional Flights

ARLINGTON, Va., Dec. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- US Airways will further expand service to the Caribbean over the next four months, by adding new routes between Boston and San Juan, starting in February, and Philadelphia and Punta Cana, beginning in March.
Flights to both destinations will use Airbus A319 aircraft, configured for 120 passengers with 12 seats in First Class and 108 seats in Coach Class.
US Airways currently serves San Juan from its three hubs -- Charlotte, N.C., Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. Inaugural service to Punta Cana from Charlotte begins on Dec. 14, 2002.
With this new service expansion to the Caribbean, US Airways is providing more cities and customers in the U.S. with more access to our growing number of Caribbean destinations, said Douglas Leo, US Airways vice president of international.
In addition to the new routes, US Airways will also complement its existing routes with new daily service to Belize and Turks & Caicos from Charlotte in March 2003. Both destinations had previously been served four times each week.
New frequencies will also be added in the following destinations:
Charlotte - Cozumel
Charlotte - Cancun
Charlotte - Grand Cayman
Charlotte - Montego Bay
Philadelphia - Cancun
Philadelphia - San Juan
Tuesday and Thursday flights between Charlotte and Cozumel begin this week, using Airbus A319 aircraft. A third Saturday flight will be added between Charlotte and Cancun in January 2003, and second and third Saturday frequencies will begin between Philadelphia and Cancun in January and February 2003, respectively.
Second Saturday Charlotte-Grand Cayman and Charlotte-Montego Bay flights will be added in January, and a fourth Saturday frequency between Philadelphia and San Juan begins in February 2003.
US Airways currently serves the following Caribbean destinations: Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Cancun, Cozumel, Grand Bahama Island, Grand Cayman, Montego Bay, Nassau, Providenciales, San Juan, Santo Domingo, St. Croix, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, and St. Thomas. US Airways Express also serves North Eleuthera, Governors Harbour, Marsh Harbour and Treasure Cay from select cities in Florida.
