Republic Airways has started interviewing for positions for a new base in the Miami/Lauderdale area. Looks like they will be basing some new E-Jets in FLL flying under the US Airways Express banner this winter. Anyone have more info on this?

Are you sure this isn't for their existing CHQ E145 base in FLL that flis under the Delta Express or Delta Connection titles?

If not, then this is great news!

I believe this is for Delta Connection flying. I think the US FLL focus city is pretty much done.

Even if it were true, how would it be good news that the 850 170 Division employees are losing thier jobs so an outside contractor can operate our planes?

Thanks for the info. I definitley I've heard from conflicting sources that it is both DLX and USX, as mentioned here, but most are saying USX.

It is definitley not done. They were simply too ambitous at first. More routes will be announced soon, including a transcon.

How do you know this?

I guess after the merger all of the florida cities that are served by America West to PHX and LAS will be gone? They already serve FLL from both cities. Curious ! ! hmmm.... If they get rid of those flights, so much for profitable point to point service.

Are you crazy? No way. And they only serve four Florida cities from PHX/LAS: Orlando, Miami, Lauderdale, and Tampa. They aren't ending any of those eight routes.

FLL is not done. The company tried to sell Panama City and San Salvador, but there was not enough demand and it was unsuccessful. Some things work and some things fail.

Expect more FLL expansion in the future.

Furthermore, expect the Republic IBT to acquiesce to Brian Bedford’s plans and provide EMB-170 and EMB-190 contract relief in the not-to-distant future.

Republic may not operate the E190s according to the scope relief in LOA 91 and LOA 93.

Bedford needs ALPA to acqiesce, not the IBT.

Actually, ALPA says Republic could operate E-190s "under certain provisions"...

Bedford needs IBT to amend the contract, and they are discussing that this week

well there were plans to upgrade EYW/FLL to Embraer 170s in the 13 Oct Schedule change.... those plans have since been pushed back.

So an FLL E170 base isn't so far off...

They might be because they are pushing those back as part of a bigger schedule change at FLL that will be happening in December.

FLL mainline crew base...the company is buying 2,600 hotel rooms per month.

Why bother, they'll all be replaced with Republic E190s anyway. 🙄
