Electronic sensors fail. That is a fact of life.

I don't have have an issue with autonomous vehicles so much as an issue with people who don't maintain their property.

I have 0 interest in having public use automated vehicles. The government, like everything else they touch, will run the cost through the roof and continuously use transit as a springboard (or flat out extortion) for tax hikes instead of making an honest attempt to fix issues, much like they do with education now. I have no interest in letting the government control my means of transportation.

In fact even as a private enterprise I want government money nowhere near this. The last thing we need is another Amtrak.

There is also the question of autonomous vehicles attracting vandals and thieves.
