New growth at AA

Taking on more debt is good? Also, a lot of that "new" flying is simply putting flights back in the schedule that had previously been cut in their rush to "cut costs"--i.e., layoff employees.

Great news! Finally some light at the end of the tunnel!

The problem is that in the deregulated airline business, it's just one tunnel after the other.

There is such a thing called "good debt" .... I'm sure the new debt will make us lots of money. Investig in these very important areas is just the cost of doing business. We work for AA.... A company known for being conservative . It's all good.... Now smile and be happy...

Exactly Mark! Didn't we keep hearing during the recession that credit had tightened up and that companies could not expand and invest in their business? This is a great sign that times have changed. THIS IS A GOOD THING PEOPLE! (yes, I'm shouting!) Look at our stock futures!

Wow, American is about up to 500 flights a day in ORD, yeah?

Really really good news to hear

Here's a list of some of the cuts (credit to Jamake1):

STL loses the following service:

(Atlanta), (Austin), (Cedar Rapids), (Charlotte), (Des Moines), (Indianapolis), (Jacksonville), (Las Vegas), (Madison), (Milwaukee), (Minneapolis/St. Paul), (Nashville), (Newark), (New Orleans), (Norfolk), (Northwest Regional Arkansas), (Oklahoma City), (Orlando), (Philadelphia), (Raleigh/Durham), (Richmond), (San Antonio), (San Diego), (San Francisco), (Springfield), (Tulsa), (Washington/Dulles), (Wichita).

STL-New York/JFK is added.

BOS loses the following service:

(Columbus), (San Diego)

RDU loses the following service:

(Hartford), (Columbus), (St. Louis)

For us who have been around for a while, you can relate......
These cutbacks anounced today at STL sound just like what happened at SJC. Same shifting of flying to the hubs.... Pulling out of unprofitable markets.... The more things change, the more they stay the same.

How is this possible? The doom day posters have been going on and on, telling us once the anti-trust deal is set, AA will drop international flying to destinations like the UK and Spain. Unless, AA is anticipating losing out on the anti trust. Then they will have to fly the routes themselves. But then again its more likely the nay sayers are wrong yet again.

As I've posted before, the APA has many reasons to dislike Arpey and distrust AA, but their opposition to the AA/BA/IB ATI application just makes no sense at all. Look at the new AA international flying to Spain and elsewhere in Europe.

I'd like to know where you get your information from.... Why would we have to pull out of the UK and Spain ?? Like AA is going to pull out of UK flying... crazy nonsense...

You misinterpreted/misunderstood FA Mikey's point.

Read it again slowly. Then think back to all the posters who said approval would be the end of our international flying to those countries. Those people will be very quiet on this subject for a while.

Sorry, I stand corrected...
