New Mexico orders US Airways to stop serving alcohol

There is so much more to this story that most dont know... I can't post about b/c the company watches this site... however, I dont feel that we are in trouble the fa's...

The sad fact about this is lives were lost. This man made some very stupid choices which can never be undone. The sad fact is this 15 year old girl will live forever without her family. I understand that this can be healed however, some wounds never heal. I feel bad for this whole ordeal. My heart goes out to everyone from this mans family, the flight attendants involved, and most of all that 15 year old girl without a family (mom/dad/sister/etc). ) I hope that this young woman to be will take her personal grief and create something constructive out of her personal tragic lost. We never know some of the greatest leaders for certain causes have came from personal struggle and there human connection to MADD, Cancer, AIDS, etc.

I feel for all involved...

Looks to me that the RediMart was more to blame by selling the guy more alcohol after he was already drunk.

Oh, they got over the grieving real fast when they found out who they could sue!

This should not be something hanging over the heads of any of these crewmembers. God, it's pathetic that our tyranny based, lead by fear and intimidation style of management does this to any crewmember following any kind of incident!

Bob, if US Airways lacked a license to serve alcohol in NM the governement has every right to enforce their laws at any time they become aware that the laws are not being complied with by anyone.

This isn't political, it is enforcement of their laws. The only question is why this error wasn't spotted sooner.

I remember that HP was not allowed to serve liquor in Florida. There was a rule in the IOM/ISM that no liquor was to be served on flights departing Florida until airborne. Rumor had it that HP lacked a Florida license to serve alcohol on the ground. Rumor also had it that the license fee was too high for HP to pay for the ten or so flights that HP operated to/from Florida. I believe that the rumors were correct, but I post it here as a rumors because I was not aware of what licenses we had in place and was only concerned with following the procedures that were contained in the IOM/ISM.

I just got on the ETC and could not find a flight to ABQ, either from PHX or LAS. Could this have been an express flight, not owned by US Airways? We don't fly to ABQ on any east metal.

In reality, we need a liquor license in any state we serve alcohol on the ground. I know a manager who needs to attend 6 hours training at the state every year in order for us to get the license.

No..... Its a America West Flight.... HP Proud... I love to get my green chili when I do a turn out of ABQ... SouthWest Famous... All crews do this... I know of F9/and others that I seem to meet at the stand for this great Chili.... Sometimes... if we call ahead its at the plane when we arrive... Talk about a GREAT STATION... 😀 Thumbs UP for the People at ABQ...

Also we do F9's ground work in ABQ...

I don't mean to appear insensitive here as I've had my share of loss.

I can't help but wonder when these NM officials are up for re-election? This stinks of using a tragedy for political gain.

If US Airways gets the appropriate licenses from NM will all involved be any less dead or less grief stricken?

A horrible tragedy has occurred here and trying to make political hay is nearly as horrible as the event itself.

No amount of money will ever compensate for the loss. The Redi-Mart losing it's license won't bring them back.

Sometimes in life REALLY REALLY BAD stuff happens to good decent people and there oft times is no one left to blame. The drunk driver has gone to the other side of life as well and will answer there for his actions.
Heck, If that's the case. No alcohol on flights out of PHL/PIT/ and other PA cities. According to PA LCB it is illegal to carry liquor cross state borders. All alcohol consumed in PA has to be purchased in PA at a State Liquor store. To my knowledge, there is NO delivery of liquor from the State Stores. Beer and Malt beverages can be delivered via licensed regional distributors. And in PA the License MUST be displayed AT ALL TIMES, in a highly visable place. If that was the case, every plane would need to have its own license. The liquor that they put on the planes must come from another state other than PA. I know people in the business here in PA and every Bar, Restaurant, Club has an individual that goes to the liquor store to pick up the merchandise (Liquor). And that individual must be registered with the PaLCB. I just can't see how this is done in PA knowing what I know that businesses here have to go thru. Its a total pain. Anyways, its all a racket. Anytime you have a Politician involved, its gonna be screwy, get ready to grease their palm. They are more corrupt than the Mafia!

Does the PA LCB still require bars and taverns to have coffee on hand in case somebody gets a little too tipsy?
I believe the only thing that a bar is able to serve a "Legally Intoxicated" person is water. I am not sure about that cause the places that I know its only water. It may coffee or soda, but I believe that places stray away from that as to the person having to deal with money paying for it and it getting confused with serving them. Alot of times when a person is drunk, they get confused and sometimes uncooperative.

I guess you mean it's the "new" US Aiways flighton west metal. It's good that Amwerica West lives on in your heart, becuase your paycheck is going to be saying US Airways. Piedmont folks had the same issue, but it is good to be proud of your former heritage. We used to order chicken wings in BUF at a place called the Airways. That was our short ron. They would also brong the wings to our aircraft. They were so good, they got a dialnet number, so we could call them on the company phone. We at east used to have ABQ ron's awhile back. Manygood time there. I forgot to click the HP on the ETC. My bad. What kind of equipment are we flying into ABQ?
