What's new

New OCC/SOC where will it be?

Well, the PHX SOC will be using the crappy east software once we go to one certificate in May anyway. So the location of the combined facility had no bearing on that anyway.
Really? First time I've heard East software was inferior to West. From what I've heard from local employees who have some west employees here for training, Shares isnt set up to handle a lot of reissues. With the bad weather the east has from time to time, invol reisssues are going to be VERY time consuming. 🙁

What are the property tax rates for Moon Township?
==================================================

Round numbers--3x Phoenix or Tempe. I think Mesa has a different tax structure, but hey I don't live there.

When I first moved here from MD I was shocked, shocked at how little my tax bill was relative to what it was before in income and property tax

What are the property tax rates for Moon Township?

Folks sometimes choose to live in Hancock and Brooke counties in West Virginia (Weirton, Follansbee) and Jefferson County in Ohio (Steubenville, Wintersville). Property Tax rates are incredibly low and now less than 30 minutes drive to PIT. People are great but schools are terrible. Better to send kids to parochial schools. There are two very good Catholic schools in the area.

The US Airways 'deal': Here we go again
PIT PAPER- Thursday, February 22, 2007

Fools tie knots and the wise loosen them, the axiom goes. Once again, it falls to us to attempt to loosen the knot that gushing local and state officials have tied for Pennsylvania taxpayers with their "deal" to land US Airways' new flight operations center at Pittsburgh International Airport.

The same airline that stiffed Pittsburgh by reneging on its airport lease just before emerging from bankruptcy will get an incentive package of $16.25 million to build the $25 million facility. About 450 jobs will be "saved"; an additional 150 jobs will come to the facility.

That is, the public will pay about $108,000 per new job. The combined public cost of the retained/new jobs -- about $27,000 per job.

But why should the public be paying anything? After all, this is the same US Airways that recently bid $10.2 billion to acquire Delta Air Lines.

Yeah, but everything is relative--the assessed value of a $200k place in Moon Township would run you $500k in PHX.

I'd take PHX any day...like anything, you get what you pay for!! 😛

It depends upon how you pay for it.

Property tax in San Francisco, for instance, is really pretty low (thanks to Prop 13, among other things). Of course, mere mortals can't get in the front door when you have to drop $700k on a fixer-upper.

I won't turn this into a PHX versus PIT thing. I have lived in the latter and spend a lot of time golfing around the former. PHX is not for me, largely because I actually enjoy 4 seasons. YMMV.
