New route continues Southwest's Pittsburgh expansion

Wow, if I was a customer would I fly on one of US Airways Dash-8 props to BWI or a Southwest 737?

It was only a matter of time before WN staerted this root, as BWI is what we call a "Hub". I thought it would have started when they 1st started PIT. As for taking Dash 8 vs. the 737's, it depends on your personal preference. But I think that WN will get there in about 25 minutes.

Is this one of WN shortest flights?(Distance )

One of, but Austin-Dallas and Norfolk-BWI are shorter.

You're right - I missed that one on the route map and it's even shorter...

None of you are close. ITH-ELM in a DC-9 with an new F/O. Several times I was tempted to leave the gear down...that's how short it is!

I said it backwards...it's ELM-ITH. Taking off north, landing west...you're already on base. Plus ITH used to be only 5500 ft or so long. No wonder my hair turned gray.

US Air....well Allegheny used to fly the 580 between HVN and BDR(Brigdeport). That has to be the shortest.
I also remember Eastern flying a 757 every night BDL-PVD.

Shortest Jet Flight for me was SJC to SFO on TWA back 1979.
Shortest Prop flight RDG-PHL and RDG-AVP.

Back in the 70's Braniff International used to fly 727's between AUS-SAT about 16-17 minute flight. Interesting too was the the old USAir in the 90's used to operate the same flight on 737-300/400's.

I think the shortest used to be a UA flight from SFO to OAK.
