New Service

With regard to Berlin: Delta beat Continental to the punch - this morning they officially announced JFK-TXL beginning May 2005. Apparently CO already had slot times allocated, and a tentative agreement with a local handling agent in place, but I doubt that EWR-TXL will materialize now.

I'm happy for all Berlin just became the new it city in Europe. I just hope CAL buys some more wise-bodied airplanes since flying on a 757 to Europe has to be the most uncomfortable flying experience today. 757's are great for Newark to West Palm Beach but not to Germany.

Not only will the widebody be a passenger advantage for DL but it also gives them the opportunity to carry cargo. DL operated JFKTXL for years and I flew it.

It is interesting to note that CO and DL who are partners are not at all hesitating to build their respective NYC hubs. This all but assures that DL and CO will never merge.
