UW, you may not had known of this, and I don't care about looking through web sites today to find something on it, but in 2001 the city of phoenix was close to starting the preplamming and bisiding on a new Terminal that would replace T 2 and 3 and have about 85 gates, then 9/11 and the aftermath that put the future of airlines in doubt. The city decided to not go forward due to th fact most airlines had cut so many flights and they did not see the future need and was not willing t invest that kind of money.
I am glad to see tah a smaller version is up and getting the go ahead, The interterminal tram is already under constuction and a planned new second north runway is also in the future
