No More Food Service On Domestic Flights?

Heard from our manager today that effective in March, NW will no longer serve meals in Coach on domestic flights (including west coast to Hawaii). Anyone else heard this? Any idea what what the potential savings is for NW? I'm also curious how this program has been going on the routes that they've been "testing" for sometime now.

This is not news as this was announced some time ago to inflight. It must be doing well as it seems more often than not that we run out and face unhappy customers who don't get the chance to buy.
