That was Gateway''s beast. It was indeed a pile of merde, I worked on it a little bit in YYC when Gateway got it before it went to XD and beyond. Not sure if that wasn''t the a/c that hit the Royal Alex hospital in XD in the early 80s
Thanks graunch. We used to own it. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries had become a partner in the company, and in celebration the brass bought that effing thing. I never flew it, I was on the F-27.We got rid of it fast.

Graunch if that was for me, no our F27 was CF-QYP although back in the early 70''s we did look to buy a second one that Lambair had for sale back then. Can''t remember the reg, either GZJ or JON, I forget which.

Yes it was Bohica,
when IJA was in business they flew an F27 CF-IJI out of YYC and then YXD for the Oilers. One summer it flew Anne Murray on a tour of the the Arctic and they painted a huge "Snowbird Express" name on the side. The first time it hit YXY the base mgr and resident wag named it the Chicken Ship and the name stuck during the remainder of the time we had the a/c.
I had always assumed it went to Northward after that - perhaps Mackenzie Air got it??

What was it that Esso ran into Inuvic and people would say "do you have IJI? privileges meaning you could travel on the company A/C and not have to pay commercial fares.

Sorry graunch, can''t help ya. I think McKenzie operated one at one time. A friend of mine who now flies the CL215 for the Manitoba Govt used to fly the F-27 out West, and I''m pretty sure it was at McKenzie.
