What's new

NW traffic fell 5.5% in Sept.

I know you guys jump for joy at all news that you percieve as negative to NWA, but a 5.5% traffic drop on a 7.1% capacity drop is not bad news. That drop in capacity drove increased yields on the remaining seats sold, as the loads were obviously higher on the remaining capacity.
....and some koolaid drinkers relish putting their master on the pedistal.

What you just stated is normal typical practice in the airline business which means the seats sold earlier were the cheap "greyhound" fares and the higher priced ones were not sold. There were still empty seats not sold on the flights...empty seats mean loss of dollars. Therefore, still a LOSSand shares are still 60 cents last time I checked.

selling cheap seats and not getting the last minute higher paying customer seats is not really great news.

blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah same redundant "Northwest is the best" koolaid induced garbage.

How can that be? Why their ad for ESE's said they were the most preferred airline !

Yeah thats what these Koolaid drinkers think. Ask them when it starts to get a bit chilly and their backs hurt for less than what they pay for in Burger king.

The article I read said that the airplanes were 86% full. Yet this airline cannot turn a profit. They wanted to be like walmart and now they are, all except for the making money part.

You need to remember that these figures were based on the September 2005 numbers. The September 2005 capacity figures were greatly reduced by the company at the beginning of the strike (approx. 15%), and yet NW couldn't even come close to reaching those lower numbers.

Spin away all you want finman, but I believe groundcontrol is correct... 🙂

Mainline ASM from Sep-04 to Sep-05 was flat, on a 1.8% reduction in block hours. The total 2004 to 2005 capacity decreased about 1.5%, and capacity has decreased another 8% in 2006. Thus, in total, the capacity is down about 9.5% to 10% from 2004.

from a total of how many seats in inventory. Can you just change your name to Gary Wilson Jr.?

What is your question? I'm just giving you the total change in capacity from 2004 to now. What about that do you dispute?

Regardless of how many seats there are in the inventory, I'd just like to know where 1 or 2 of them are, and when they'll be coming through my city.

selective sighting, i see...

from total seats available from one year to another, ect. People fudge this stuff all the time and make it look pretty for the rest of the people.

Yeah Don, I wouldn't be surprised if this was Gary flaunting his aviation accounting background. Nothing better to do than to poke with people's misfortunes and get excited about it. Had him on some of my flights and he is nothing but obnoxious. The fish bit but it was a stale bait.
