Depends on the cause. Do you ever do volunteer work?
Yeah, was a union steward.

If you were IAM didn't you get your dues refunded at the local monthly meeting/beer/pizza fest?Yeah, was a union steward.

Maybe 700 can answer that one. You might have turned them down.
I did miss the beer and pizza after AMFA was voted in.No, as a matter of fact no steward gets 'free dues'.
They get a monthly allowance for out of pocket expenditures to cover supplies and things not provided by the local.
And the free beer and pizza fest is only authorized by the members who vote on a motion to set aside money for pizza and beer, pop and coffee at the next meeting. After all, its the memberships dues money being spent and they vote on the motion.....and BTW, it has been voted down before too.
I didn't mention the AGC's top secret slush fund set up in an offshore bank......
The hookers.....man, let me tell you.........![]()

(Pizza and beer was always after the meeting BTW)
AMFA only had coffee, tea, water, sodas and cookies.
WTF kind of a union meeting can you have with that? LOL
😛

I'd prefer to get away from a profit based system of health care. Someone or something making a profit based on my illness does not give be a great deal of confidence.
Dr. Kim, Dr. Rashesh, etc... didn't come here because they were benevolent to Merikan Humanity. They were needed more in their own countries.
They came here for the bucks!
A couple of years with an HMO and slam bam Private practice (on the side).
Our Doctors are no worse.
If you want a 'pure' capitalist society, then the poor die.
Simple economics.

Sorry but I am not sure what point you making.
Nothing wrong with volunteer work at all, but it doesn't pay the bills !Depends on the cause. Do you ever do volunteer work?
Our healthcare system is profit based.
Not very many altruistic hospitals out there.
Doctors want a good salary for their time and education.
We attract some of the best doctors in the world because of the salary.
Nurses go on strike for higher pay and benefits.
I belong to a HMO and they are building facilities that are fantastic. But at what cost?
They simply raise my premium and I can't say squat.
I could dump them and get cheaper insurance, but I am not a young man anymore and statistically, I'll need them in the next 10-20 years.
Yes, I "WISH" we could move to a non/reasonable profit system, but that's not going to happen.
Too much money to squeeze.
One would think the gooberment would be the regulator, but that hasn't worked out too well to date.
So, as I said:
"If you want a 'pure' capitalist society, then the poor die."
Hope that makes it clearer.
