Nearly every person will need health care at one point in their lives, more than likely more than once. Those who do not have health care will have to go to county hospitals to receive care. With out health care, the cost will be passed on to the tax payers. One way or the other, we will pay for it. Preventative health care is always going to be cheaper than emergency care. I would rather everyone pay in a little to health care so that everyone has coverage rather than the system, we have now.
Costs need to be brought under control. Drug cost are insane. My wife had to go on anti-biotics for a stomach bacteria. Fortunately I only had a $50 co-pay cap. The 10 days of meds retail price was $538. That is out of line. Someone without insurance in a min-wage job would not be able to afford that.
Hospitals are the same thing. Basic procedures cost a small fortune. Major surgeries will put all but the 1% in the poor house. There is no justifiable reason for that.
As far as the right to choose, as far as I am aware, women want control over their body. They also want birth control covered under insurance. After all, ED drugs are covered so why on earth would would we not cover a drug that is actually beneficial for women? The same people who seem to be against the idea of mandating birth control being covered by insurance are typically the same folks who are against sex ed, prenatal care, day care and abortion. So not only will they not help prevent an unwanted pregnancy, one the pregnancy happens they will do nothing to help the mother. Only a conservative could think that makes sense.
