Obama's Really Pizzing Off the Wrong People.....Just Sayin'

Heck, look at Israel. They even managed to come up with a handful of medical inventions. OK, it is a whole lot of medical innovations.

Care to expand on that "whole lot" even a little bit?

"But the American health care system may be performing better than it seems at first glance. When it comes to medical innovation, the United States is the world leader. In the last 10 years, for instance, 12 Nobel Prizes in medicine have gone to American-born scientists working in the United States, 3 have gone to foreign-born scientists working in the United States, and just 7 have gone to researchers outside the country."

"In general, Americans tend to receive more new treatments and pay more for them — a fact that is usually regarded as a fault of the American system. That interpretation, if not entirely wrong, is at least incomplete. Rapid adoption and extensive use of new treatments and technologies create an incentive to develop those techniques in the first place."

While we're speaking of using Israel as a presumably appropriate model for the USA though....How about we also adopt their policies noted below? Would you have any problems accepting them?

Why? Not like you accept anything I post any way. Go look it up for your self.

Yep, US health care can be some of the best in the world .. if you can afford it. If you cannot ... that would be a different story.

I'm all for compulsory service whether it be military, peace corp or some other such organization.

Yes, I've heard your mantra before. Corporations and capitalism good, government bad. Seems quite black and white.

I put faith in corporations only to enhance their bottom line, which in the case of medicine, serves to spur on research and development. Given what sum total I've seen of governments during my lifetime; I put "faith" in them only to the extent Ringo Starr does "Anything that government touches turns to crap." ...and that of the late George Carlin per politician's motives:

I did, and couldn't find anything listed ANYWHERE that placed the USA other than at the very top of overall medical research. If you've nothing to contradict that....Well..."Go look it up for your self" and come back whenever you've perhaps found anything at all to support your comments.....?

That would make sense since that is not what I said.

So then; you would be willing to be conscripted into such?...Or is it just a good idea for others? 😉

Perfectly willing so long as the rich kids are right beside me.

Agreed. You were touting Israel's production of "quite a few" medical developments, and seemingly suggesting that was proper fodder for dismantling the American system, which (at least currently) leads the world in medical research and development, or am I missing something here?...Perhaps that "quite a few" somehow counters, or even loosely equates to world leadership in the field? 😉

Separate paragraphs, separate issues.

What kept you from ever entering into such service then?...The lack of "rich kids" being beside you? My own family wasn't exactly starving, and it didn't stop myself or pretty much all able-bodied males of the line entering it, nor that of some others I knew.

Medical issues. Actually wanted to go into the Air Force.

How about the noted Peace Corps then? Just curious. For me; I think it's entirely unreasonable to ask of others anything I won't do myself...and you were fine with mandatory service of some sort for all others, just sayin'.....

So a demonstrated fact such as the USA currently leads the world in medical research (under it's present system) somehow shrinks in value for the purposes of reasonable debate?

Medical issues same as before. Traveling to remote locations and such would not have been a wise move on my part.

Never said that either. You are accusing me of saying things that I have not. That is all I am refuting.

The main topic here is US health care that ranks very poor. I brought up Israel and their medical innovations as a side note to show that a universal health care program does not stifle innovation.
