Take care of it, and they'll survive into their 80's... 😉

Curious to see that they chose to stay with the JT's, since a number of the KC-135 and RC-135s were re-engined with the CFM-56 about ten years ago.

🙄 ------ Brings back old memories doesn't it? I remember the expression on one of our passenger's face when he saw me sitting on top of one of the pylons, beating on a T.C. cover with a wooden chock, trying to get the latches latched, with a plane full of people, in the gate, waiting to be pushed back for their flight!-------- I looked over, and saw all these noses pressed against the windows, with looks of shook on their faces! --------- I can imagine what they were thinking!!!------ What the hell is he doing??? 😀

Do that today and you'd be getting an LOI from the Feds.

Higher altitudes? Just what I'd want to do, go higher in a 50 year old pressurized fuselage!

🙄 ------ And I wouldn't recommend it today!!! ------But it worked!------- And as the line mechanics know, sometimes "you got to do what you got to do" to get that plane out of town!-----"SAFELY"!!!

I've seen a number of 1959 - 1963 model KC-135 tankers in recent years. The first two numbers of any AF plane' tail # is the year the USAF ordered the jet.
