US Airways improves
on-time performance

US Airways Group Inc.'s on-time performance improved significantly in September, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.
About 80 percent of the Tempe, Ariz.-based airline's flights were on time, the DOT's Air Travel Consumer Report says. US Airways ranked third among the country's six network carriers and 14th among the 20 airlines in the United States.
That's a marked improvement over the first and second quarters when only 62 and 64 percent, respectively, of the airline's flights were on time.
On average, 81 percent of all flights were on time in September, up from 72 percent in August.
At Charlotte/Douglas International Airport, US Airways' largest hub, 84 percent of flights arrived on time. It ranks 13th in on-time performance among U.S. airports. Houston International Airport was No. 1. Nearly 90 percent of its flights were on time in September.
