It makes me want to take back all that I said about Seth Schofield back in the day.

"Hey, I knew that I didn't have all of the weight information when I started the takeoff roll!"

The airline gained its current profitability advantage from the 2.5 billion concessionary contracts given the past 4 years along with two planned bk dumping pension plans, airport contracts, a/c contracts.

In order for USAirways to continue on a course of sustained profitability will come with a sound business plan that includes producing a "service product" that the customers will want and leave other carriers to obtain.

Until such time this management decides to be creative and get input from the customer, and the front line employeees to create this "service product", instead of he bean counters... the "sustaining profitability" ain't happening...and is merely based on hopeful wall-street speculators.

Problem with Dougie and cronnies is that their huge recent compensation this past year has only produced bigger heads than their collective talent warrants or deserves. And running after the "mega merger" only hurt the overall stability of the current merger/operation.
 
😛h34r: Cronic understaffing in Philly at the domestic ticket counter. Kiosks are still down and you have about 10-15 agents being abused by management and the public. It is pathetic !!!! Managers are told by labor that they are not allowed to do our work, but they ignore our labor contracts and do the work anyway. There are more managers than agents and they are not bringing in any stars to assist us. Total meltdown in Philly, deplorable working conditions and lack of respect by our despicable management team! Come on down and watch the show !
 
sounds like management will get another bonus for all the extra effort they are putting in.
Just imagine spending every waking moment thinking up new ways to nickle and dime this ariline into BK3 and at the same time working a ticket counter?? That is above and beyond, I think millions are in order.
 
😛h34r: Our Union leader has told all of us that this past monday management in Philly was told by Labor in Tempe that they are to stop doing our protected work. Look at the respect they have for their own Labor team. We want so badly to talk to the reporters that are camped out on our counter. If we do we have been warned we will lose our jobs ! They are blamining it all on us. We are tired, never get our breaks and not given the tools to do our jobs properly. If we twitch the wrong way we are being told we will be fired for insubordination. There is only so much we can take. The company gave us only three days of training on this system, and to make matters worse the system doesn't even work. They continue to tell the media that there are only fifteem minute waiting times (more like a minimum of two hours). I do hope there is an angel out there looking over us.

The biggest mistake was to get rid of our Sabre System. The US East employees have been desperately trying to tell our company for the last year this would not work.
 
The entire trend at USAirways is self-destructive, and the SHARES meltdown is merely the latest incident in management's push to lower costs no matter what the long-term consequences.

The last time the industry saw anything like this was during the dark days of Continental Airlines. Under the leadership(?) of Frankie "Smooth Talk" Lorenzo, that carrier merged its way out of bankruptcy and alienated its customers and employees to the point that it was moments from financial destruction. Few around here remember just how bad it got at Continental, and how close they came to shutting the doors. It took one of the few visionaries of the industry, Gordon Bethune, to pull them from the brink of oblivion. And he accomplished this not by beating up on employees and inconveniencing customers, but just the opposite. The difference between CO situation then and the situation at US now is that US actually has some money in the bank to turn things around. Mr. Bethune had to do a lot of tap-dancing and schmoozing of creditors to get the breathing room he needed.

But at USAirways, Doogie and Company seem to be taking the opposite tack of what Bethune did to turn CO into one of the premier carriers of the world. For these reasons (the alientation of our customers and the employees,) USAirways will ultimately fail. That pot of cash in the bank will last a few years under normal circumstances, but if there is another terrorist incident or large disruption of oil supply (both likely scenarios), that pot of cash will evaporate in flash. And the credit markets will see Doogie's actions as squandering both money and customer good will, and our access to money to survive will be gone.
 
The bad press and backlash associated with this Reservation Cutover can be attributed to an EgoCentric Management Team that thinks they know EVERYTHING. When things don't go over smoothly they bring the SpinMeisters out to make it look like it is a figment of your imagination......"What do you mean you were in a line that didn't move for 3 hours in PHL? One of our sources said they saw you having lunch at Cibo and then shopping at Johnston & Murphy when your flight was in the final boarding process. :lol:" "And as far as not having a ticket, the lady at Starbucks said you tried to pay her for the Macchiato with your USboarding pass!" Now really, how can that be OUR fault.....afterall "I make US Fly!" 😛

ask your mgrs if some of us former wesies can come out...we seem to be overstaffed and have things fairly under control...I for one would be willing to assist...there just has notbeen any invite....
 
i guess if you can get 1 day in jail for dui and paid a 16hundred fine, then you dont need to worry about how bad thing are going in the EAST side. Gee DP wonder if you were an East employee how would you feel about the whole d@MN thing going downhill quickly and dealing with angry folks.

Wow! And the company continues to put out rubbish about how much PHL is improving and there are actually people on this board that believe it..... :shock:
 
Piney Bob, hits it on the head again! Is there a reason why Doogie will visit Charlotte but won't come near the hub that is melting away. How could corporate Usairways place a 27 year old in the seat of Director of Passenger Service in Philadelphia and expect things to improve? They are truly setting us up for failure. Just another day in paradise !
