Osama is dead

See this type of stuff generates a giant yawn for me. Deep down who cares? He's a freaking politician.

To me this is piling on. Especially when he's such a nit wit he provides real ammunition and we don't need to look petty.

I know, so many things to pile on, so little time! B)

Cute, but it is a window into how Progressives think. It's useful in that regard. I have a dear friend who is somewhere to the left of Lenin, well maybe not that bad but he's sure no Libertarian and he is very disappointed in Obama not being "Progressive Enough".

He's from Appalachia and he does tell an amusing story about the "War on Poverty". He says "You know Bob, they fought the War on Poverty where I grew up and I'm here to tell you we lost. It was so bad Momma went down to the office they'd set up and asked "is this were you're fighting the war on poverty?" Lady smiled and said "YES", Momma replied, "Well I'd like to surrender are you taking any Prisoners"?

So they took all of her information and next thing she gets a half dozen burlap bags of rice. Now this is a little old Mountain Granny, doesn't know how to cook it, the hogs won't eat it but they did find that if you stacked two of them just right you could use them as furniture and after a while they'd get real familiar with so that you were the only person who could sit in that chair.

It's a cute story. Sad part is the last paragraph is the Gospel truth. I post this because its indicative of the Progressive paving the road to hell with good intentions, often with an end result being the firm application of the Law of unintended consequences.

That silly little story is a macrocosm of the Obama Administration to date. Lots of good intentions and bags of rice as chairs.

I think he has very little credibility in general and less than zero with me. His decision to move on OBL which I applaud has raised his stock with me from totally worthless to nearly worthless. As to the "Birther" thing, I've seen polls and I posted an article from the Huffington Post that suggests he has lost a great deal of credibility. IIRC the CNN poll had some 38% who had doubts that he was born here. Doesn't matter that to think that makes them dumb as a bag of hammers. What is does speak to is his dwindling credibility heading into an election year.

Given his continued loss of credibility and gas headed to $6.00/Gal like a jail on wheels, he has a real problem. If he doesn't address the price of gas the Republicans can put the Mayor of Tin-Cup Colorado (pop 187) on the ballot and win. We are a coin operated society and when people have to make choices between Groceries & Gas whomever is in office is going to get covering in manure and nobody is going to give him a shovel

Come on. That is like saying Bush has lost credibility with hard core liberals. As if he ever had any with them. Like they were ever going to vote for Bush in the first place. None of these birther idiots ever voted for Obama in the first place and they would never do so in the future regardless of what info was offered up to prove them wrong. Obama does not care about your vote as he was never going to get in anyway. Elections are won with the party vote and any independents that can be swayed over.

Some of the numbers were pretty high! Way Way past what the active birthers numbered.

So you're telling me that 39% of voters in the CNN poll who were either believed he wasn't born here or were unsure would never have voted for Obama?

Since his election the percentage of people who felt he wasn't born here was between 20 and 27 percent. It's highly doubtful that the full percentage was Republican. BTW the article I posted was from the Huffington Post which will NEVER be confused with the Cato Institute. These were all mainstream polls and the numbers weren't good. I for one would have never believed it until Huffington & Fox had essentially the same compilation.

This President is in a world of hurt politically and despite what can be politely called a pedestrian field of Republican challengers he stands a very real chance of being a one term wonder.

Ummmmm. Point of order. How do we know that the 39% were voters much less people who voted. I do not recall ever being asked in a survey if I voted, just how old I was. In 2008 just a little over 50% of the people voted. So I do not see any problem with 39% of 'eligible voters' not believing in reality. A small percentage may have been independent but I doubt it was many. In a magazine called "The Week" they quoted a Times survey that found 45% of registered republicans believed that Obama was not born in the US.

I have not seen the poll(s) so I do not know what questions were asked, how they were asked... etc. There have been times I was called for a survey and I could tell it was a push poll so I would give the answers they wanted just to jack with them.

Go back a couple pages on this thread and check it out. Kind of frightening and I think it gives you the real reason he disclosed and Trump had little to do with it IMO. After looking at the diversity of the sources of these polls I question whether Trump dogging him had as much impact as I thought.

These polling organizations wouldn't be doing any push polling to my thinking. Some are known to favor liberals. It's pretty telling when viewed in it entirety as Huffington has presented it. CNN is usually pretty favorable to Obama and I think he fared worse there than elsewhere

I guess I do not see what you are seeing. The polls I saw were from all Americans, not just registered voters and not from people who did vote. Assuming that is representative of the polls in general, half the people who responded won't matter because they did not vote and won't vote. I guess you could argue that it's 50% across the board and that still leaves the percentages the same which could very well be true. I don't know and since there is not a damn thing I can do about it, I guess it does not matter to me that much.

Come 2012 I don't think this birther nonsense is going to mean anything. The biggest determination in my opinion will be who runs on the republican ticket and if there is a independent who is going to split the republican vote. Out of the current crop I think Obama is a shoe in. Trump, Gingrich, Palin, Bachmann, Romny, Huckabee all are no goes in my opinion. If the republicans run them, it's Obamas election to lose.

By this time next year it will have died down to a small undercurrent. A bit of a circus side show. The two things that killed their position for me was the banner ad for Lyndon LaRouche on Orly Taitz's web site AND more importantly given the ruthless nature of the Clinton's politically if there was a shred of truth/evidence of him not being a natural born citizen does anyone think she wouldn't use it? She didn't because there wasn't any.

This is where I part company with the Republicans. When Hillary was out there as First Lady and Candidate she was evil incarnate. Clearly she looked into Obama's past and found nothing, same as everyone else. Hypocrisy takes many forms and with the tacit support of Republicans the movement continued unabated.

Despite all of this, COULD there be a "Smoking Gun"? YES there could and I could win a 300 Million Dollar Powerball jackpot having never bought a ticket as well. Both are unlikely and equally so.

Do you really think providing a photo is going to make a difference to the sort of ignorant fools who bought into the birther crap and now "require" a picture of Osama's ventilated skull? Just remember that despite all the pictures, scientific data etc there are still people who say the moon landings were faked.

+1.

I don't get this obsessive need to see the pictures that some have. I suspect it really has nothing to do with wanting to be sure that OBL is off this mortal coil, and everything to do with trying to discredit Obama.

If he's not dead-or at least completely out of the game- we'll all know soon enough.

Yeah right.....like he was on CNN for the last ten years every night.

Frankly it has to do with perceived lack of credibility. In the law there is a concept known as "False in one, False in All" and it has to do with how a juror may weigh testimony from a witness. Basically it means if you think the witness is lying about a portion of their testimony you may throw out that testimony in its entirety during your deliberations.

There is a percentage of the population that doesn't believe one word out of the mans mouth and want some sort of proof. Do I think Obama has lied to us? HELL YEAH! Do I think he's lying now? NO I DON'T.

Right or wrong this man has lost gobs of trust & credibility and it will dog him for however many years he is in office.

It will come out eventually. Theres already a line growing for FOIA requests.

I hope they never come out. Justice is done...there is no need to gloat or parade pictures around to satisfy the ghouls. I appreciate what the president did and the way he did it.

There is a BIG difference between justice and vengeance. Justice maintains it's humanity, vengeance does not. I support capital punishment too, but you won't find me dancing in the streets after it's done.
